For the last year or so, my daughter has started to collect Sylvanian Families so whenever I spot them on special offer, I but them and put them away for Christmas or birthdays.

Last year, I had a free £5 off voucher for Argos which needed to be used online and as we already had the adult elephant set; I thought I would buy the baby twin set as delivery was free and they were also on offer at £3.99.

Sylvanians have been around for years, although I am too old for them, I can remember my sister who it 8 years younger than me playing with them. The range has definitely evolved since then, you can now not only buy nearly every animal you can think of but there are so many accessories too such as swings, cars, caravans, furniture, houses, ice-cream vans, schools, the list is endless. The price of the products vary, depending on the size of what you are buying, single baby animals can be purchased from around £5, sets of 7 animals are normally £20. Accessories and houses range for £5 up to £120. What I will say is that although the RRP is quite steep, these are frequently on offer so I would recommend shopping around.

This set retails for around £7, the elephants are one of the older sets of animals available which means that they are as widely available as some of the new animals however are available at places like Argos, Amazon and John Lewis. For £7, you get two little grey elephants called Peanut and Nana which measure around 2-3 inches in height. Lauren loves the fact that the animals have already got names and tries her best to try and remember them. One of the elephants is sat up like a baby and the other in a crawling position and both have a little baby grow on. The clothes are easily removed, but not having many other babies, she cannot change them around as much as she can with the adult clothes.

The only downside of the set is that unlike the larger Sylvanian figures; the babies limbs don't move meaning that play it a little limited. Lauren likes to play 'school' or 'house' with her figures and I find she gets a little frustrated when she cannot manipulate them into the chairs or to lie down on the bed.

As much as I love to play Sylvanians with Lauren, I also love to listen and watch her playing. They really encourage imaginative play, she pretends to be each little character as she touches them, putting on different voices, playing mummy to the babies and more recently, since starting school, she like to play schools.

Most Sylvanians state suitable from 4+ due to small parts, with the animal sets, I have never experienced any issues, however with the accessories, there are a lot of small pieces with them so could possibly pose as a hazard.

Overall, I would recommend this set if you can get on offer, I would never pay the full price so for that reason, I would give 4 out of 5 stars.
