I bought this fridge freezer set for the Sylvanian families as part of another set too. It came with a desk set too and was half price in Argos for £8. The attention to detail is fantastic. The fridge is a white plastic fridge with doors that open. It is about 7cm high and 4cm wide but despite only being small you get a lot to put in it with lots of details. My grandchildren like to put this in their house and it always seems to be put in a different area each time! They then spend a long time putting the bits inside it, they are so tiny yet seem perfect for their little fingers. When we first bought this fridge there were some stickers we had to stick on the items so that it was obvious what they were such as a little sticker to stick around the butter and the cheese as well as the milk. We got bottles of milk, cheese, butter, various little vegetables even tiny little mushrooms. There was an ice cube tray complete with icecubes to put in the freezer section at the top. I couldn't believe the amount of little details they had put in this. It was amazing, a good surprise! I had to put the stickers on as they were too small and fiddly for the grandchildren to manage. They love playing with this, the only problem is that they are tiny pieces so we have to make sure we keep them safe or they would easily be lost or choked on by a younger child. Because they are so small my grandchildren really like them, I think they think it is more of a grown up toy instead of always being big chunky things. The quality of it all is great. I cannot fault it. Considering we got this and a desk set too for just £8 I think it is very good value for money. There are lots of bits you get in it which give children the ability to use their imaginations with it. Brilliant little fridge freezer
It may seem odd for me to reviewing Sylvanian Families when my children are boys, but my youngest son's big present this year was the Teen Titan's Tower. My husband wasn't too thrilled with the addition of doll's house furniture, but it is basically just that a doll's house except that boys call their doll's action figures. Beast Boy actually spends a fair amount of time eating on the TV programme and a kitchen well stocked with junk food was an absolute necessity. But finding furnishing the right size for 3 3/4" proved quite a challenge until I found Sylvanian families. These items seem to be just right. I paid £5.99 for this, using a dooyoo voucher. I do feel this is a bit expensive for such a small item, but I had been able to pick up most of the furnishings used, so I didn't mind going a bit over for one item. This is small 7 x 5 centimeters, but it suits the smaller action figures quite well. This is plastic but it is exceptionally thick and I believe this toy is very well made. I especially like that teh hinges are sturdy and the doors never come off. I really can not imagine this toy breaking with normal usage. It came with stick on magnets which we discarded they were not in keeping with the super heroes secret lair theme, but these would be a cute addition if this set were used as it is intended with Sylvanian families set. A few food items were also included - a stick of butter which my son says is tofu - one of Beast Boys favourite foods. There were also a couple of bottles of milk, some yogurt and some juices. The picture here shows a red carton as well, but I can't find that at the moment and honestly do not remember it. The milk and butter are well made, but the labels are falling off the tins of juice, despite the fact that these are never used. The yogurts are all stuck together on a tray, and my son doesn't really like this either, but we are happy with the milk and butter, and I did plan on buying other foods for this anyway. We now have the fridge stocked with colas, chocolate bars and green hot dogs as Beast Boy loves green food. For such a simple toy, I am surprised how much use this has had. My son regularly gets all the snacks from the fridge to hand out to all the super heroes as they gather around their telly. This isn't the type of toy one would normally think for a boy - but boys do eat as well, and my son seems to enjoy being able to have his toys feast on junk food as well. As I was deprived of inappropriate toys such as scale electrix and electric trains as a child - I tend to pay less attention to proper toys for boys and girls as long as they are having fun - and I don't really feel this looks like a girls toy in the over all context of the Tower. I think is a lovely toy that really adds to creative play with any type of small doll or action figure. In addition to Sylvanian families, I believe this would fit with Peppa Pig toys as well since our living room furniture is from a Peppa Pig set and the scale seems the same. I'm sure there are many other smaller toys this would suit as well. It obviously would not suit larger dolls like Barbie. If your child has a small doll house - or even a superhero base or evil villains lair - then I am quite happy to recommend this as a lovely prop to add to the fun. I did consider knocking a star because I do think this was a bit expensive, especially as I ended up spending more on extra foods. But considering the amount of play value this has had, and the fact that my son enjoys it so much, combined with the fact that the refrigerator itself is very well made, I have given this the full 5 stars, and I am very glad that I bought it. * I believe the refrigerator itself would be safe with a smaller child, but I would still recommend some supervision. This is sturdy and well made, but there is some possibility a determined child could wrench a door free, and this might be small enough to swallow. The foods are not suitable until whatever age your own child is when they are past putting toys in their mouth. If this is bought for an older child, will need to watch the small parts with younger siblings.
Again another Sylvanian purchase this Christmas. My daughter saw this and wanted to buy it with some of her Christmas money, we paid £6.99 as we were in a garden centre and she saw it, however I see that it's available for £4.50 on Amazon with free postage (dec 2012). There's not a great deal to be said as it's only a relatively small item, it's a fridge with a top and bottom compartment big enough to fit a few of the Sylvanian food delights in, it's a necesity for any Sylvanian house. It comes with the items show in the picture above; yoghurts, milk, chese and a few cartons and cans. It also has stickers which my daughter enjoyed sticking on the outside and remind her of our fridge magnets on our own real fridge! She has added her ice creams and other various food items from the other sets she has. It's well made and perfect for Sylvanian.
