We have recently purchase a new storage unit from Ikea to try and keep my daughter Laurens toy in some sort of order rather than just being stored in lots of different storage boxes all around the house, so we started to have a clear out/tidy up and discovered lots of toys we had forgotten about.

One item that we 'found' and again haven't stopped playing with since is the Sylvanian School Pupils set. I brought this for Lauren last August time as she was due to start school in the September and I wanted to start to introduce and talk about the transition from just a couple of hours at nursery in the afternoon to all day.

The set includes two figurines, Constance Cheshire (a cat) and Charlie Bassett (a dog) and both are dressed in a cute little uniform (Constance's in red and Charlie's is blue). Each figurine also has their own schoolbag which can be opened to store their school books, pencils, rubbers and rulers which also come in the set. Unfortunately, due to their size, we haven't yet found the accessories, just the figures and the bags.

I always find that the Sylvanians look like what they should so you can easily recognise what animals you have. Last year, these were great at explaining what happens when Lauren becomes a big girl, how she would too get her own book bag, and lunch bag, how she would have friends to play with at dinner and how she would be learning, I would try to incorporate school life as much as possible so that come the 5th of September, things would be a little easier for her (although I do think I was more worried about her starting school than she was!!!). It was great recently to see her play with these as she would re-enact things that had happened at school etc. She is very secretive about what happens at school, I find that playing with these figures helps me understand more about who she has been playing with, what she has been up to.

The set retails at around £11.99, I think I paid around the £8 mark from Amazon which I think it quite reasonable. It is widely available at larger department stores and online too.

The Sylvanian range is extremely large, almost every animal you can imagine, swings, cars, caravans, furniture, houses, ice-cream vans, schools, the list is endless. The range of products available is extremely large, almost every animal you can imagine, swings, cars, caravans, furniture, houses, ice-cream vans, schools, the list is endless. The price of the products vary, depending on the size of what you are buying, single baby animals can be purchased from around £5, sets of 7 animals are normally £20. Accessories and houses range for £5 up to £120. I would always recommend shopping around as there are some good bargains to be had, Amazon are normally great at reducing, but be warned that some of their RRP's are sometime a bit excessive.

Overall I would recommend this set and give it 5 out of 5 stars

      Thanks for reading.

Constance Cheshire and Charlie Basset both love school and their teachers. History lessons are ConstanceÕs favourite study periods, learning about the adventurers and explorers of Sylvania while Charlie adores maths and the magic of numbers. They help each other with their homework and spend hours in the library sharing their passion for history and mathematics.
