      A lovely bright doll

My little girl is not a big fifi fan but she does enjoy the odd episode and also has a few toys from the Fifi range so when I came across this doll I decided to purchase it for her as she loves dolls and this mixed with a character that is well known to her I was sure it would be a big hit.

      The doll

My little girl loves this doll it is the perfect size to be held, cuddled and played with. The doll is a good size for a toddler to hold both light and the perfect size to be carried around. The doll matches the appearance of the TV character perfectly including her outfit and all the small details of her face and appearance meaning she is easily recognisable to a fifi fan.

The doll talks when you press her stomach and she says phrases that are well known from the TV program. She says around 7 phrases and they are all on a random loop meaning you never know what she is going to say next which is great for keeping the toy interested. She is bright and colourful which grabs little ones attention and the small details of her dungarees and shoes mean she was instantly a big hit.

      In use

Pressing her belly to make her talk is easy to do and my little girl can do this independently and has been able too since she received it when she was two years old. There is nothing on the doll that can hurt little one and parts are made of different types of fabric meaning it is still soft enough to cuddle and the different textures are interesting for a young child.

There is also a scent to the doll I did not realise this at first and thought my little girl had been at my perfume but then realised that the scent was way too sweet for anything I wear. This is a great addition to the doll as it is not overly scented but noticeable enough for my daughter to tell me that fifi smells like flowers it has faded over time especially as she has been wiped down a few times but when my little girl is playing with this doll she makes sure everyone has a good sniff of her doll which is rather amusing.
She says a few phrases that are all recognisable from the TV program including Hi I'm Fifi forget me not and come and play which my daughter loves and the voice is exactly the same as the character from the TV show.

Although really fifi is just a doll to cuddle that also talks this does not limit how my little girl plays with her she is great for making little one use their imagination and making up stories with fifi in. As the doll says a number of phrases from the program my little girl also likes to recreate her favourite episodes from the show.
My little girl also likes taking fifi to bed with her although she does have some plastic parts on her she is still on the whole made of fabric and very soft and cuddly and so is one of the many dolls my daughter rotates to share her bed at night time.

      Overall

This toy cost me around £15 from my local B and M which I think is great value for how long she has lasted, although she can be difficult to clean as she is wipe down only she still is in very good condition. There are no scratches or marking to her and she is still in perfect working order. The scent of fifi does fade and it is becoming un noticeable now but this was a great addition to the doll to make her stand out a little from other dolls.
My daughter is not a major fifi fan but she does enjoy watching the odd episode and she knew straight away who it was when she unwrapped this for her birthday and has used the doll a lot in the time we have had it. I would recommend this doll but it seems it is a little harder to get hold of now I would suggest if you are looking for fifi to head to your local home bargains or b and m as I have seen them there recently for sale.

The batteries have lasted extremely well they were already in the doll when we purchased her and after over 15 months of use they are still going strong and the voice is still as clear as it ever was with no slowing or distortion even though she has received a lot of use. It is recommended from 2 years plus which I think is the perfect age range as it is a great size for toddlers and the talking function is easy to function for a small child independently there are no small parts that can hurt a smaller child and it is a fun simple toy.

        Great for Fifi fans!

This is a scented talking Fifi who also says 7 phrases when you simple push her tummy.

This was one of my Daughters Christmas presents from Mummy and Daddy when she was 18 months old. She loved Fifi and the Flowertots and when she opened all her presents this was definatley a hit.

The fifi plush is exactly how she looks in her tv programmes. She is dressed in her classic denim dungarees and pink wellies and she has a lovely smell, a sweet smell to her. She is a talking plush and some of her phrases include Fifi favourites from the tv show 'Fiddly Flower petals' and 'Buttercups and Daisies'.

She is very pretty with her 'forget me not' hair and flower motif, she's very bright and colourful and smells pretty too! You can even take her dungarees off!

My Daughter is now three and shares Fifi with her 18 month old sister who also adore her. And yes our Fifi still has a nice smelly head! And the batteries still work!

        Disadvantages

A sucessful purchase even if i didn't pay for it.

Another special occasion sees another bundle of toys and amongst the latest array is a Fifi Forget Me Not talking plush toy.

Fifi Forget Me Not Talking Plush-
Fifi stands about 14 inches tall and is perfect hug size for small children and toddlers. The first of several talking plush designs Fifi is dressed in her famous dungarees, pink t-shirt and wellies, later designs have seen her in pyjama's. Fifi is gently scented with a floral perfume smell, it is only a very mild smell but it is pleasant and light.

Her body/face are made of various different textured fabrics meaning that, while they're not specifically aimed at sensory stimulation, they give the child an interesting range of textures to feel. Due to the battery powered nature of the toy the fabrics are only wipe clean.

When her tummy is squeezed Fifi will say several different phrases usually beginning with a "oh, hello!" each subsequent squeeze will produce an alternate phrase, each of which would have appeared within one of the Fifi television episodes. Fifi has a shut down mode for when she's not been squeezed in a while at which point she will tell you to come back again soon, this is a great little feature which saves on battery life but can also draw the childs attention back to the toy ensuring it gets well played with.

Suitable from 2 years upwards Fifi takes 3x LR44 cell type batteries which come included.

        Elsa's Opinion-
Elsa is only 19 months old, technically not quite old enough for the toy, so her level of expressing her opinion more or less comes from excited rambling and a broad smile, her range of speech is great but "mummy this toy is my favourite" is a bit beyond her means. We knew that Fifi was going to be a big hit with her even before it had been purchased as she spotted it on the shelves in Toys R Us, gleefully picked it up and refused to let it go, we didn't actually buy the toy at this point (a relative bought it as a gift a few weeks later) so it was tricky separating her from the toy and we had to resort to all manner of distraction and bribery to be able to move on.

Come the morning of present opening, Christmas day (I'm sure most of you can identify with the chaos that can ensure on that particular day) and Fifi was one of the earliest gifts we opened with Elsa. In typical toddler fashion she wasn't interested in the rest of the gifts or what was going on around her she just wanted Fifi out of the box and "now" heck it was Christmas so we pandered to her and she happily snuggled Fifi, giggling excitedly every time a cuddle ended in Fifi talking, we eventually managed to get through the rest of the gifts and Fifi quickly found herself next to a baby doll in Elsa's toy pram, wrapped in a tiny fleecy blanket and being fed juice.

Ever since that first encounter Elsa has loved her Fifi toy, we had to stop her taking it to bed on an evening because she would keep Christopher up half the night with Fifi's "fiddley flower petals!" She does occasionally struggle to get the voice working as her hands are quite tiny and can't squeeze the toy very well but that's all the better for me who'd have to listen to endless Fifi chatter if she could manage it perfectly on her own. A child of the designated age group should be able to manage this with ease but it just goes to show the quality of the toy that it is durable and safe enough for a younger child to manage (at this point I will point out that it is the parents responsibility to monitor play if the toy is given to a younger child, just in case)

As far as I'm concerned this toy was quite a good choice, yes it has quite a limited entertainment value and there is little educational about the toy but Elsa loves it and is clearly finding her own ways of playing with Fifi and stimulating her own imagination. My one complaint is a small one and that is the fabric on Fifi's nose and the bottom of her shoes, it's an unusual texture and has a terrible habit of attracting dirt, not a good feature when you consider the toy is for young children who inevitably end up hand in hand with dirt.

        Price & Availability-
Fifi is available from most larger toy stores such as Woolworth and Toys R Us, she is also available online from places such as Amazon in the region of £14.99. In my view that's a little pricey for what is effectively a stuffed toy but I'm sure the price will drop in future, certainly online.

        Overall-
A successful purchase that has seen many hours of love and play, not sanity breaking for a parent even if it may seem a little bank breaking. So what if it doesn't teach the ABC, Elsa's expression when she plays with Fifi is all I need to see to know the toy is worth having.
