“ Brand: Vivid Imaginations / Type: Doll „
Chrstmas 2007 my daughter was two and a half and FIFI mad. Everybody that asked what she would like for christmas got the same reply. FIFI and Pasta (! dont ask!)
Boots were doing their usual 3 for 2 and grandama picked this lullaby Fifi, magna doodle Fifi and Fifi deluxe cottage.
Its safe to say that the house was well and truly 'Fifi'd' that christmas!
We still have these three items in the house but by far the best loved is the lullaby Fifi. Im pretty sure that on this particular offer Fifi was at full price if bought out of the 3 for 2 which was £19.99. She can be bought on amazon taday for £16.63.
Basically its a 30cm (ish) soft toy in pink pyjamas. Press her tummy gently and she sings a well known lullaby from the hit tv show.
" Goodnight my cotton socks,
time to close your eyes,
sweet dreams be yours tonight,
ill sing a lullaby"
I must say you cant mistake Jane Horricks dulcet tones!
Whilst singing her cheeks glow in the dark, not too brightly just a gentle soothing glow really. The flower print on her pyjamas also glows in the dark.
After the song, after a good 30 second delay, when youve forgotten that the doll is in the room you hear a "night night", which still 18 months later makes me jump!
Attached onto Fifis left hand by velcro is Fifis bedtime friend Cottonsock.
Cottonsock is a white rabbit with one blue sock, a fluffy tail and beautiful blue eyes!
I have to say here that Cottonsock has been EVERYWHERE with us since christmas 2007. She is a bigger hit with my daughter than the actual Fifi doll and due to its small size fits into my handbag!
The toy comes fitted with batteries which in all this time Ive yet to have to change but this can be done easily from a hidden compartment in Fifis back.
It is recommended for ages 3 +. My daughter had it before her third birthday and Im assuming that the age is that high because of the battery compartment and the two plastic eyes. Cottonsocks is actually OK for aged 2+. The label says surface wash only and whilst Im sure that this is the case with the Ffi doll I have to admit that Cottonsocks has been in the washing machine more times than I care to mention and is still intact and still my daughters favourite soft toy.
This doll is definately worth the money. Two soft toys in one, a lullaby and a little night light. I would highly recommend this for any lttle Fifi fan.
When you press her tummy she sings the lullaby song from the TV series FiFi and The Flowertots. Its very soothing and relaxing song perfect to help them drift to sleep. She is very soft and cuddly and also wipeable. Her cheeks glow as she sings which is soothing for your child especially if they arent keen on the dark. Perfect bedimt companion. Also cmes with a cotton socks who is Fifis bed time teddy in the series fifi and the flower tots. Fifi has velcro pads on both hands for attaching cotton socks too. i bought this my daughter for bedtimes although she would keep playng it over and over as opposed to goingv to sleep. Perfect for younger fans as once my daughter was 2.5 she became bored of it although she had also outgrown Fifi and the flowertots by this time too. Fifi is ready for bed wearing her pyjamas
Last Christmas (2007) My then three year old Daughter wanted nothing more than a Lullaby Fifi. Everyone who dared to ask what she was going to ask Santa for was told the same thing "Lullaby Fifi and Cottonsocks". Even when she met the main man himself the only thing she asked for was Fifi.
Luckily Santa got the message and on Christmas day there was Lullaby Fifi and her cuddly little friend Cottonsocks. My daughter was so excited and pleased with her new toy she held on to it all day.
Fifi and the Flowertots is a programme for pre-school age children shown on channel 5 in the mornings. We don't often watch channel 5 but had seen it while away on holiday and my Daughter had really enjoyed the programme and remembered the characters. When I suggested that My Daughter had a look in the Argos catalogue for some ideas for Father Christmas she found a whole section of Fifi and the Flowertots themed toys and for some reason decided that the Lullaby Fifi was the toy for her.
Lullaby Fifi is aimed at children of age 2 years and over and as the programme is geared towards a similar aged audience I would say this is about right. As far as I can see there is nothing that could cause any hazards to a younger child apart from her eyes which may be chewed off although I think this is highly unlikely.
Fifi measures 36cm tall and is a soft bodied doll. She cannot stand or sit without support, her arms are quite stiff but her legs are very floppy. Her head is quite large compared to her body but this is just like the character on the television programme. Fifi is all dressed for bed in her pick shortie pyjamas and matching slippers. There is a big flower on the front of her top which glows in the dark but this is only very feint and hardly noticeable. When you squeeze or press her tummy her cheeks glow and she sings a short Lullaby:
Goodnight my Cottonsocks
Time to close your eyes
Sweet dreams be yours tonight
I'll sing a lullaby
than after a short paused if she is not pressed or activated again she says "night night".
The voice is very similar to the characters voice which I was pleased about because we have other toys that do not sound anything like they do on the television programmes.
Fifi comes with her cuddly white rabbit Cottonsocks who is small enough to be held by Fifi and is also just a soft toy with floppy limbs. Cottonsocks does not have any other purpose than being Fifi's sleeping companion and does not speak or light up. Fifi does have Velcro on her hands to keep hold of Cottonsocks but she is very careless with him and I have often been called in the early hours because "Cottonsocks has gone".
My Daughter loved Fifi and Cottonsocks and they were here favourite bedtime snuggle toy until Fifi's batteries started to run down and she started slurring and sounding a bit butch. Fifi needs 3 x LR44 button cell batteries which is annoying because they come in packs of 2. AA batteries would have been much more convenient because we always have those sized batteries in the house.
Fifi's battery pack in inside her torso and can be reached through a small opening in her back. Unfortunately this is a very tight fit and I couldn't manage to get the battery pack completely out. This is very fiddly and awkward but I eventually managed to replace the three batteries that she came with for fresh new ones. This is where my problem started because instead of sounded like a old drunk Fifi refused to utter a sound. I put the old batteries back in and she started singing again. I decided that I had been sold dud batteries and vowed to buy some more.
After a few weeks I remembered about poor old slurring Fifi and decided to have another try with the batteries that I already had. After much fiddling about with her innards I found that the new batteries were slightly slimmer than Fifi's existing batteries! I don't know why this is as they were LR44 batteries just a different make! Anyway I packed out the battery pack with some blu-tack to hold the batteries down so that they would connect properly and Fifi has been restored to her former loveliness!
Unfortunately my Daughter has tired a little of Fifi and no longer insists that she cannot sleep without her. Although I think this is sad for Fifi I am pleased not to be woken at 3am by Fifi's dulcet tones because she has been inadvertently squeezed by a sleeping child or for my moonlit Cottonsock hunts!
I would recommend Lullaby Fifi to any little girls who love Fifi and the Flowertots as she is really cute and is a lovely representation of the television character.
My daughter is mad on fifi, dora, in the night garden and all of the other caracters around at the moment but fif is definetly one of my favourite. she has a british accent unlike most toys now and this helps when she pick up some of the phrases. although there is nothing wrong with toys that have an american accent, its nice to have a british one for a change. the doll is lovely and comes complete with her bunny cottonsocks.
this toy says age 2 plus but would be fine for a slightly younger child. my friend has a 1 year old who loves this just as much as my daughter. to use the toy you misy have 2 LR44 batteries and then your set to go.
All you have to do is press Fifi's tummy and her cheeks will start to glow. she will also sing a lovely lullaby that is very soothing and great for drifting off to sleep. the doll is very soft and wipe clean, her bunny, cottonsocks can go in the waching machine but as fifi has all of the mechanisms, she cant.
A lovely toy for any fif fan to enjoy. highly reccomended
