Not a great toy doll but my daughter loves her and makes bathtimes more fun.

My daughter loves dolls and after seeing an advert in september for baby born mummy I can swim doll she desperately wanted one. I agreed to put it on her santa list, luckily Amazon uk had heavily reduced the price of the doll in December I was able to buy it.

Baby born mummy I can swim doll is made by Zapf creations. The doll costs £30 full price normally. I paid £19.99 from Amazon uk website with free delivery. Mummy I can swim doll can also be purchased from Toys R us, Toy master, Tesco and Asda.

Baby born mummy I can swim doll comes in a clear box and was smaller in size than what I had expected. The doll is attached to cardboard inside the clear plastic and takes a while to remove all the ties and free up the accessories.

Baby born mummy I can swim comes dressed in a pale pink swim suit made from lycra, this has the Zapf creation label on it with a little duck motif. Doll accessories are a set of pink flip flops and a small fluffy cotton towel for drying the doll off.
The doll is made from hard plastic and not soft like other dolls. Its still very cute looking and measures 12 inches long.

Mummy I can swim doll requires two AA batteries, these go in the back of the doll. Its easy to get to the battery compartment as the swim suit opens up with velcro fasteners. You do need to use a philip head screw driver to open up the battery compartment to place the batteries. After doing so I was baffled to where the turn on switch was so had to read the instructions and found she has no switch that the doll automatically goes once placed in the water.

My daughter was really excited to test the doll out so I run a bath half full gently placed the doll in the water belly down. Mummy I can swim doll did start to swim. Her arms move round and legs start to kick. She moves quiet fast and as she swims her head tilts to the side. Although the doll looks like it is swimming it is heavy in the water and sinks under the water level making it look like a poor swimmer more of a struggling drowning doll. This still is not enough to put my daughter off and to her baby born is swimming.

My daughter thinks the doll is magical and she loves playing with her in the bath. I really do not like the mechanical noise that comes from the doll during use, very loud and irritating sounds as if she is about to brake down although my daughter does not seem to notice or mind.

When you take the doll out of the water her arms and legs still go until you tip her upside down to drain the water out a small hole on the back of her neck. My daughter likes to towel dry her but sitting her on the side of the bath drip drying is fine also. She cant be played with like other dolls because of her mechanical arms and legs so she is strictly for bath times or taking along to the swimming pool.

All in this Mummy I can swim doll is fun for little girls and so far so good. I would never have paid full price for the doll after seeing her in action and realising she cant be played with in reality.
I have given the Mummy I can swim doll only three stars for the reasons above.

Perfect for what we wanted it for, our girl is swimming!

Thank you Zapf, What a brilliant doll. My little girl hated swimming and wouldnt go anywhere near the pool she screamed as soon as we got there until we left. I decided to try this doll out as i believe swimming is an important skill to have, she still screamed on arrival to the pool but we managed to calm her down and get her into the pool using this brilliant doll.

As you place her into the water she begins to swim, this made my little girl laugh, on removal and once dried (sensor on stomach) she stopped kicking her legs and moving her arms. It was perfect and over time we are getting much calmer about our swimming lessons. The doll has her own towel which our little one insists on using after "baby" is dry and has her own flip-flops which does mean we have to take our shoes to the pool side!

The doll is expensive i think for a doll but for encouragement to get into the water is really priceless. I would highly recommend this doll to anyone that would like to encoursge there children to get into a bath swimming pool or paddling pool.

This doll is approximately 25cm tall it comes with a towel and some little sandles, the doll probably is a little big for the bath but would still work in there. It is expenisive as I brought it for £30 in tescos and then went on sale the next week :( but for what it has achieved I would pay it again.

Daughter was very pleased so i'm pleased with the purchase.

After being pestered to death by my 4 year year old for this doll, i gave in and bought it for her for Christmas. I thought it would be a nice change for bath time instead of the usual rubber ducks and that she could play with it as a 'normal' doll when not in the bath.

The doll is smaller than i expected it would be and comes with her own towel and flip-flops. My daughter wanted to play with it straight away so we filled the bath and just put her in. She didn't need to be switched on and she started swimming as soon as was in the water. The doll doesn't swim very fast but she DOES swim which is all my daughter was concerned with. I think this would work best if it had a larger area to work in eg a swimming or paddling pool. Once the doll is taken out from the water and the sensors on her stomach are dry, she stops swimming.

This doll can also be bought in a boy version too now.
