Great Doll for Older Girs - Hurs of fun for Role Play

My Daughter was 6 when she asked for this doll for christmas. She was never one to play with baby dolls so I was worried that this would just sit in the corner of her room and not be played with. However I have been very wrong.

There are 2 dolls available from Zapf Creation and several more similar produced by Smoby. The Zapf Creation ones are Sally and Sam and my daughter chose the Sally Doll (although now wants a boy too!)

Sally is 63cm tall and is a pretty girl with long blond hair. My daughter initially enjoyed styling her hair which is very shiny and coated in something to prevent matting. Now she spends hours dressing her. Sally comes with a set of clothes and we have supplemented these with old baby clothes or even new cheap new baby clothes from Asda. I tend to buy 0-3months and these fit perfectly. Sally has a soft body and is easy to dress.

All my daughters friends now have these dolls and they play schools etc with them. I personally would not recommend them for younger chiuldren as they are large and too heavy for little kids to handle easily.

I do find this doll quite life like. In fact it is scary at first when you come in and see her sitting on the sofa - it looks just like a real child - maybe a good burglar detterent!!

Sally doll costs £20 and is worth the money in my opinion. No she doesn't have any functions but she is good to encourage children to use their imagination and come up with games to play with her.

Lovely doll just needs a little more

My daughter has had lots of money for her birthday so we have taken her to Toys r us to spend it. I have always loved this store when I was a child and love to see my childrens eyes everytime we visit.

As soon as we walked in the store she wanted to go to the dolls. She had a lovely big push chair for her birthday so needed a big doll to fit into it. As we walked around the store I noticed this doll, there was a boy and girl doll. I was not keen on the boy doll due to the hair cuts that they have they seem very scary so the girl doll was the one I wanted her to pick.

This doll is made by Zaff creations and stands approximately 2ft tall. She has got a toddler looking face and lovely looking long hair that is blond. She has a soft body which has enabled my daughter to sit her in the push chair. She is already named Sally but my daughter has changed her name. The hair is soft and easy to brush with a dolls hair brush and upto yet my daughter has not pulled her hair out. You are able to put the dolls hair up which my daughter has enjoyed to do since she has got it home. She is dressed in a nice set of toddler style clothes which consist of a hooded pink top, 3 quater legnth leggins and a skirt and the shoes are a dark pink made from rubber which are all able to be taken off but I have not seen a range of clothes to be able to dress her in. Her legs and arms are made from a sloid plastic and are in good proportion for the doll.

This doll has dissappointed me in some ways due to it doesn't do anything. I wished that it said a few words if you pressed her stomach and her eyes do not open and close which would have made her more interesting. I also think they should do a range of clothes for this doll. The up sides to this doll are good though, I think she is very lifelike and pretty to look at. The clothes are good quality and trendy like something that my daughter would wear. She is able to be carried around due to having a soft body which makes her lighter and she is a brilliant size for the childrens strollers. My daughter is treating her like her best friend at the minuite talking to her and playing pretend, she is also a very safe doll with no loose parts. Her hair may come loose but this doll is not advisable for children under 3 years due to this.

Sally cost us £20 and I think this was worth the money and if it had all the adaptions that I would have liked her to have it would have cost alot more. I have seen these in the Argos too and they do look bigger so beware that they are not as big as they look. She has become one of the family and fits in very well with my blond hair blue eyed chidren which is funny. The boy doll is the same size but with brown hair and they would be lovely as a set I suppose I could always give it a better hair cut. She is a cute lookng doll and is good for the role playing games. This doll suits older children who have more imagination than a 3 year old but my daughter is having fun making her food from her pretend kitchen and pretend tea trolly I think my next investment will have to be a table and chair set for her to entertain her new friends.
