I love body creams and lotions and I have more of them than I could ever need. I like most of the Dr. Hauschka products that I have tried and so with my Christmas money, I thought I would buy the Almond Body Moisturiser. What does the product do? The product promises to soothe and hydrate dry and sensitive skin. It is packed full of natural ingredients jojoba oil which helps to moisturise the skin and allows the body to hold onto that moisture. Almond oil, Sunflower oil and Olive oil are included in order to nourish and strengthen the skin while helping to remove skin aging toxins. Quince and Mallow helps to soothe the skin leaving your skin feeling calm, soft and smooth. Bitter orange is also included in order to tone and brighten the skin. It doesn't contain any artificial colouring or fragrances. How do you use the product? The product is to be applied to skin that is clean and dry. It should be applied generously to the skin on the body and massaged in until it has been fully absorbed. Packaging and Price The packaging looks plain yet classy and expensive. The bottle is clear so you can see the product inside and it has a gold dispenser on which you push down on in order to release the cream. The product will cost you around £25 for 145 ml of the cream and it can be bought from large department stores and also from a range of online. Application and Performance The product is easy to dispense from the bottle although the pumping action takes more time than simply squeezing a bottle of a normal lotion. The pumping action does make this product seem more expensive and luxurious however so I don't mind. The product is beige in colour and it has a deliciously sweet almond aroma that isn't artificial smelling at all. I like it a lot and it is quite delicate so shouldn't enough to put anyone off using the product. The cream itself is rich and luxurious, while managing to remain light like a lotion or milk at the same time. The product applies nicely to the skin and it glides over the skin without any pulling or dragging. It is instantly absorbed by the skin so you don't need to spend lots of time massaging the product in. It feels light on the skin and it doesn't leave you feeling greasy or unclean. It instantly soothes my skin making my skin feel moisturised and removes all feeling of tightness and dryness. It makes my skin look brighter and healthier and banishes signs of dullness and dryness. The formula is gentle and it hasn't caused me to experience any irritations or discomfort. The lovely aroma lingers ever so lightly on the skin for a while after use. The cream makes my skin feeling really silky and soft from the very first application and you don't need to use too much of the product in order to get the desired results which is a very good thing when you consider the price. It has long lasting results and my skin feel soft all day until I reapply it in the night. Conclusion All in all, this is a lovely body lotion which leaves the skin feeling soothed, soft and smooth. It is packed full of natural ingredients which nourish and moisturise the skin and it has a lovely sweet scent. The cream comes packaged in a classy way and it feel rich and luxurious on the skin yet it is absorbed quickly. I am knocking off a star for the price but I really like this product and I will definitely be repurchasing it once mine is gone.
I've recently received a gorgeous gift of 2 Dr. Hauschka body moisturisers from an Austrian friend. She sent me the Almond body moisturiser and the Quince body moisturiser, the gift was completely out of the blue, and both of the moisturisers are really lovely! I first tried Dr. Hauschka products in Austria earlier this year when I bought the Dr. Hauschka hand cream which turned out to be a little miracle cure for my severely dry, cracked and chapped hands. The same Austrian friend sent me the Dr. Hauschka lip balm not long after I returned home, which I also really liked. Dr. Hauschka is a German brand and so it is also very popular in Austria. The range is not tested on animals and is made from all natural ingredients. It's a very expensive skin care range, and it doesn't seem to be as readily available here in the UK as I found it to be in Austria. I think that I vaguely remember seeing the body moisturisers priced at around Euro25.00 back when I purchased my hand cream. The body moisturisers retail for £22.95 here in the UK. The Almond body moisturiser comes in a 145ml bottle, whats all that about, why not a 150ml bottle?!?! The Almond body moisturiser comes beautifully packaged in a glass bottle, with a gold coloured pump dispenser on the top. The bottle looks very sleek and classy and looks lovely out on display either on your dressing table or on your bathroom shelf. Now unfortunately I'm a bit clumsy and so glass bottles and me don't really mix.......... I've dropped and smashed two glass cosmetics bottles recently, the most recent one being a brand new bottle of Lancome Genifique serum which was £90.00 as I'd bought the 75ml size which worked out to be much better value for money (well I guess it didn't work out to be better value for money when I dropped the brand new bottle on the second day of using it!!). So although the glass bottle does look very sleek and classy and beautiful out on display, and it definitely looks like a premium expensive body moisturiser (which it is!), I have to say that I think that I'd prefer it if it came in a plastic bottle as it's giving me the heebie jeebies every time I use it in case I break it as it was so expensive and because it was a gift! I do really like the pump dispenser aspect on the bottle, this ensures that I don't get the bottle covered in sticky fingerprints as just a gentle depress on the top of the pump will dispense the moisturiser out of the bottle, this also means that there's probably less chance that I'm going to drop and break this as I don't actually have to pick it up to use it! The pump dispenser will turn and 'lock' again if you wanted to take the bottle on holiday. I'm probably best not doing this though! The scent of this body moisturiser is absolutely divine, you can smell the delicious sweet nutty almonds in this instantly, although it's quite a sweet almond scent it's not too sweet that it's overpowering or sickly. It reminds me a little bit of sweet almond marzipan. The gorgeous almond fragrance lingers on my skin for most of the day after I've applied this body moisturiser, but it only lingers subtley on my skin, it doesn't take over and clash with any other body products that I've used. Again it will linger on my skin overnight if I've applied it before bed and I find that I can still smell it in the morning, and that my sheets will have a very subtle scent of almonds too. The body moisturiser itself has the consistency of a very thick body milk, and it is very easily and quickly absorbed into my skin. This just seems to glide easily over my skin and it melts in completely, it leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft to the touch, and my skin stays lovely and soft all day after using this. This doesn't feel sticky or greasy at all, and it doesn't leave behind any sticky or greasy after feel at all, all of the moisturiser is absorbed completely into my skin. I find that I don't need to use much of this body moisturiser at all as a little really does go a long way. This feels like a very luxurious and intensely moisturising lotion and I would imagine that it would also be perfect for winter parched skin. It isn't too rich for summer time use though as I've been using it happily so far. It is suitable for all skin types; oily, normal, dry, sensitive and mature. My skin is more or less normal, and maybe just ever so slightly on the dry side, and this is perfect for my skin. This made a really luxurious gift, and I really love it. It's definitely something that I would repurchase as a treat or for a gift for someone - I say as a treat as it is very expensive at £22.95 for just 145ml of product. I'm slightly hesitant to give it 5 stars due to the high price, I'd probably give 4.5 if I could as I'd knock a half a star off for the price.
This was another Dr Hauschka product that I purchased while in Berlin and have been using quite a bit since returning home over nine weeks ago, I paid 24 euro for ita dn I think it retails in the UK for a similar price or maybe in pounds terms a little more, the problem with this range is that they can be a bit difficult to track down. It comes in a cute glass bottle with a pump delivery system, the pump is actually a gold colour and this is a nice classy, well designed product with regards to the packaging and the contents inside live up to the expectations created by the packaging. The moisturising cream has a rich nutty smell with the almond oil combining with avacado extract to give it a nice rich smell. There si also shea butter in it as well which adds a touch of sweetness and a creamy texture to it. This product is recommended for dry skin however I find that it works equally well on normal skin however on those occasions when my skin has got a little dry then it is excellent and this is when the real quality shines through with regards to its mositurising and revitalising properties. It is smooth and easy to apply to my skin and has a good ammount of coveridge from a relatively small amount, it absorbs into my skin nice and easily as well and is not greasy, it leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth and it retains the moisturising qualities for a long time. The big down side with this product is the cost however it is a quality product and in my oopinion just about warrants the hefty price tag. It works well on my skin, protecting it and keeping it nice and healthy looking as well. I will still however knock one star off for the price.
I always tell people that I will never be disappointed if they buy me bath and body products as gifts, as I go through them at a rate of knots. Dr Hauschka isn't a well-known brand but I must have mentioned it in conversation as I really like this range and so I was delighted when my friend bought me the Almond Body Moisturiser for my birthday. The Packaging To be honest I can't remember whether this came in a box, but the actual product is in a glass bottle. The bottle has a gold pump dispenser that you lock and unlock by pressing down and twisting. The product comes out easily once you have mastered how to unlock this. I always have problems putting it into the locked position and end up wasting product, but that is true of any pump dispenser. The Product This is targeted at dry sensitive skin and so is a thick liquid consistency. It contains a blend of nut oils which include almond, avocado and olive oil as well as shea butter all of which are renowned for their moisturising properties. I like the scent as it is a light floral with a slight nutty smell, yet it lingers quite a while after applying this. I don't like heavily scented floral products so I like the lightness of this fragrance. The product is really nice to apply and absorbs very quickly, leaving skin feeling soft and hydrated immediately and that feeling lasts throughout the day. I normally apply this after showering or a bath and I find it really easy to apply, that a little goes a long way and that you don't have to spend ages working the product into your skin. Some moisturisers aimed at dry skin seem to leave my skin feeling greasy but this one delivers on the moisture front without leaving my skin feeling slippery. Would I Recommend? Yes this is a really lovely moisturiser that is easy to apply has a gorgeous light scent and leaves skin feeling soft for hours after application. It does not irritate my sensitive skin and I like the consistency which is not greasy but is light and sinks in quickly yet is still very hydrating. I think this will be a really nice one to use on those rare occasions we get hot weather as it is so light and does not leave you feeling sticky like some products aimed at dry skin. I have psoriasis and I have to be careful with what I apply on my skin as can become quite sore if I have scratched at it. This has relieved some of the itchiness which drives me mad and does not sting or cause me any sensitivity. My skin feels comforted after using this and I do feel that it helps clear up flaky patches faster than other products I use. I do feel this helps heal my psoriasis, but as I use medication for that and other body moisturisers I can't swear to this, but it does feel very soothing It is expensive, but very effective and I really love this. I like the pump dispenser but I think I would prefer a tube as at this price you want to make sure that you get every last drop out and that is sometimes a problem with glass containers. I received this as a gift and I do recommend it even though it is very pricy as I particularly like the way my skin feels after use and that it does seem to relieve some of the itchiness. I think it is best suited to people with skin that is on the dry side or anyone that has a skin complaint. It is a luxury moisturiser and feels like a real treat on my skin so it gets 5 stars from me. Price and Availability John Lewis and Harvey Nichols stock this brand and it can be found in natural organic shops. It is also available online from Dr Hauschka and other online retailors This costs £22.95 for 145ml and as yet I haven't managed to track this down at a lower price as I would like to purchase this again , but not at £22.95
