This sponge was a free gift with some purchases I made in Berlin, I have not seen it sold seperately so it might be something that they made just as part of a special promotion. It works pretty well as a cleansing sponge although it is a little on the thin side in my opinion and is really designed to remove facial masks from the range that Dr Hauschka offer however I have used it as both a cleanser and to also remove the debris from face masks however I have never used any in their range of masks.
As a freebie it was great to own however I'm not sure I would go out and buy this as a face cloth pretty much does the same job and I'm not sure that this product has anything extra to offer the user other than the fact that it is a bit softer than your typical face cloth. As I said it is thin and textured more like a face cloth than a sponge, I tend to use it after applying a generous amount of warm water and I have also used it in the shower however it has a slightly flimsy feel to it so I tend to not rub too vigorously with it. It is good at removing the sticky mask debris that is resistent to warm running water and finger massage.
I have been using it for about six weeks now and it is still nice and soft, it dries hard when not in use so you do need to get it nice and wet before using it again, it is an effective sponge but there is nothing very special to say about it and I would not necessarily spend my own money on it unless it was only a couple of pounds to buy. I'm not saying I would not recommend it just that I would not spend much money on it.
WHAT IS IT?
A sponge made by Dr Hauschka, especially designed to remove their Cleansing Clay Mask but is equally effective with other masks or as a more general facial cleansing sponge. The sponge is very slim but has a large surface area, it was quite awkward to get to grips with when I first started using it but I quickly got the knack of using it more inthe style of a face cloth than a sponge.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
When dry the sponge goes very stiff but rinsing it under warm water for a few seconds will soften it up. It's not a sponge texture as you'd probably think but is more like using a damp cosmetic sponge on your skin. Dr Hauschka say it can be used in the bath or shower but in my opinion the sponge is much too flimsy to use as a body sponge, I keep it for use on my face and mainly when I need to remove a face mask. When you have finished using the sponge you should rinse it and leave to dry in the open air, after it's dried I keep mine in a small toiletries bag so it doesn't become dusty between uses.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
I have been using redundant cosmetic sponges to remove stubborn face masks since I was a teenager but this is the first custom sponge I have seen. Mine is printed with the words Dr Hauschka instead of the attractive blue design in the photograph provided by Dooyoo. The sponge is soft and smooth once you have dampened it but strong enough to allow you to apply pressure on your skin to remove sticky masks, Dr Hauschkas clay masks are always hard to remove using water and your fingers but using the sponge helps you to lift the sticky pieces of mask from your skin leaving you with just a small residue to rinse. The same can be done with a face cloth but the sponge is kinder to my skin as its softer.
I use it with a particular gel cleanser too as this cleanser produces a thin lather when I use my fingers to cleanse, applying it to the sponge helps me to create a more acceptable lather and leaves my face feeling cleaner than when I don't use the sponge.
The sponge is priced at £4.50 and is available from all larger Dr Hauschka stockists. I had mine as a free gift after spending £50 on Dr Hauschka products, I would and will buy another when I have to replace this one because I think it is very well priced for a useful item like this. I always wash mine out immediately after I've finished using it and it hasn't stained even though I use it on brightly coloured face masks as well as the paler Dr Hauschka ones. It has had a lot of use as I am addicted to face masks and still looks new, the sponge is still soft and I think it will be a while until I do need to buy another.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
