I am a big fan of Dr hauschka and their range of beautiful organic and natural beauty products. I especially love their Rose cream and toner as these just work so well on my facial skin. None of their other products have the same effectiveness on my skin but they are still lovely treats and I would happily use them all if they weren't so expensive. They are cheaper than some brands and I wouldn't mind paying for them if they worked wonders but with the exception of the day cream and the toner they don't do much more than high street products which costs much less.
The firming mask was something that I bought as a treat and I really enjoyed using it while I had it but I didn't feel the need to buy another tube when that one finished.
The mask claims it will fortify the skin replacing moisture and suppleness while minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. Ingredients include rose, marsh mallow, pansy, avocado, mango butter, beeswax and almond oils. These all sounded gorgeous which is what convinced me to try the mask in the first place and the mask is lovely to use.
It is a very luxurious and pampering mask and using it feels like a real treat. You need to set some time aside to really appreciate this mask as it needs to be applied for 30 minutes for maximum effectiveness. I didn't mind having to leave it on for so long because it became a real treat when I was using it and I would apply this and light some candles and take the time to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The scent of the mask is very therapeutic too and really relaxing.
This is a good mask for people with dry or sensitive skin and it really helped revive my skin and put some moisture back in it. It also helped reduce some of the redness that my skin sometimes suffers from and my skin was left feeling soft and supple afterwards.
I was a little bit worried that this would leave my skin spotty and greasy after using it because it is so rich and has such a thick consistency but I didn't have that problem because although it left my skin feeling really moisturised it didn't leave it feeing or looking greasy.
This is a really lovely mask and I really enjoyed using it. The only reason that I didn't buy the mask again was because although it was lovely and it left my skin lovely and soft it didn't leave it any firmer and there was no noticeable difference in my fine lines. If it didn't cost 35 then I wouldn't mind but for that price there are more effective masks which do minimise the lines and feel just as luxurious to use. This also stated it would last for 3 months but I only got 6 weeks of use from it before It was empty.
I recently received a very welcome hand me down from my mother which came in the form of the Firming Mask by Dr.Hauschka. My mother had been given it as a present from a friend and as she is not one to wear face masks she gave it to me to try out. My skin is still relatively young but it is starting to display the first signs of aging so I thought I'd try to stop it before it started.
What does it do?
The mask works as both a preventative and restorative measure. It has been specifically designed for those with mature skin which falls in the normal to dry category. It promises to restore the elasticity of the skin which means that fewer wrinkles will form and it also promises to hydrate the skin. It claims that it will tighten the face to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to leave it looking healthy and rejuvenated.
How does the product work?
The product contains plenty of moisturising ingredient including Avocado Oil, Water, Olive Oil, Glycerin and Almond Seed Oil. The Avocado Oil also nourishes the skin with vitamins and minerals, as does the Mango Seed butter. If the skin is hydrated then it will bounce back to its original shape, instead of getting stuck and forming a wrinkle. Alcohol is included to tone the skin but not enough is present to dry out the skin so there won't be adverse effects.
How do you use the product?
The product is to be applied to completely clean skin so that the ingredients can work their way deep into the face. You need to dispense the product and then smooth the cream all over the face and neck, carefully avoiding the eyes, eyebrows and hairline. You need to have a fair bit of time on your hands to use this one as you are advised to leave it on the skin for 30 minutes. Once the time is up, the mask can be removed by using a damp flannel and then you can give your face one more splash of cold water to close the pores. The mask should be used no more than twice a week because it is a treatment.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within a white tube which has a white screw top lid on which it can stand. The tube is plain except for an orange band. The product is expensive costing around £35 for 30ml of the mask. Even though you only need to use the product once a week, this is still only a small amount of product for a lot of money. You need to spread the product quite thickly in order to achieve the desired results so you're not really going to get your moneys worth from this. I've used it twice and already I've made a significant dent in the product.
Aroma and Appearance
The product has a light but floral aroma that smells a little like roses. It's not my favourite scent in the world because I like sweet fragrances but it's not offensive and people who like floral smells should really like it. The consistency is that of a rich night cream and isn't like many of the other face masks which I've used before.
The product is easily applied to the skin and it's simple to get a good coverage because of the richness of the cream. The mask is more like a face cream than a mask and it isn't gritty or chalky at all. It doesn't dry or get uncomfortable while it is on my face and it feels very hydrating. Part of the cream seems to get absorbed by the skin and the rest is easily removed using a damp cloth.
First of all, I should say that I don't think this is the right product for my skin type. I have mainly oily skin with some dry parts and the product does state that it's for dry to normal skin so this is really my own fault. I found it a little too hydrating for my skin and it made my complexion greasier and shinier than it would be usually. It also made me break out in spots after the second usage so if you do have spot prone skin this would be one to avoid.
It is extremely moisturising and rich so if you do have dry skin then this should be right up your street. I do get dry and flaky skin on my forehead and nose and this really does work well on these areas. It leaves my skin feeling softer and smoother so I think it would work well at maintaining my skins elasticity and preventing any further wrinkles forming before their time.
It does feel like its toning my skin and I don't experience any tightening sensations. I can't say that I've noticed any improvement in my fine lines but then maybe two uses isn't enough to find out. This mask is too expensive for me to repurchase and it cause spots when used all over on my face so instead I've started using it as a targeted night cream, applying it directly onto my fine lines and leaving it to soak in throughout the night.
All in all, if you have oily or spot prone skin you should definitely avoid this one. If your skin needs a burst of moisture then you should get on well with this and it will also leave your skin feeling softer and smoother. As for dealing with existing wrinkles, I haven't seen any improvements but as it is so hydrating, I don't think new ones would form prematurely. I wouldn't purchase a tube of my own and I will also use it now by applying it directly to my fine lines. I haven't marked the product down for causing blemishes on my skin as it isn't designed for oily skin and I think this would work wonders on those with dry skin.
