As a big fan of Dr Hauschka when I read rave reviews about the Intensive Skin treatment I decided to give it a try to give my skin a boost.
This treatment is intended to be used for 28 days 3 or 4 times a year as a treat for the skin and to resolve specific problems with your skin.
There are currently 5 different treatments aimed at various skin types and my first dilemma was choosing the one that would suit me best . As with most skincare I am torn as I have dry sensitive, ageing and a recent addition menopausal skin , so what to choose from my list was difficult.
What swung it for me was the price as the ageing and menopausal treatments are almost £20 more . So I plumped for Intensive Treatment No 3 which targets sensitive skin which is priced at £47.95 for 40ml.
This comes boxed, together with instructions for use and rather unusually for a skincare treatment the product comes as a bottle with a spray dispenser. To be honest this is what attracted me to the treatment in the first place as I liked the idea of a spray .
This is a liquid that you spritz onto your face and neck which contains a mix of water , oils and plant based ingredients.
It is recommended that this is applied twice a day for 28 days after you have cleansed your skin. Dr Hauschka recommend 5 pumps on the face and neck and then press or pat gently into the skin.
Then apply moisturiser , but if you follow their guidannce they do not recommend applying moisturiser on an evening. This is something unique to Dr Hauschka who do not recommend moisturing at night as they think skin should be allowed to breathe.
They also recommend using cleanser and moisturiser from their range, however I did not and used this with my normal daily moisturiser and went against the Doctors orders and used a night cream .
I did apply as recommended though and really enjoyed spritzing my face with this lovely blend. It smells gorgeous, rose being one of the ingredients and a slightly herbal scent which must be the essential oils.
They have included witch hazel for its anti-inflammatory properties and rather unusually kalanchoe which is a succulent plant plus other plants and oils . The mix is aimed at calming and hydrating sensitive skin.
This product really made my skin feel comforted and I found it really refreshing on my skin. Very quick and easy to apply 5 quick squirts and then pat into skin , top off with moisturiser and job done. If you are worried about getting this near your eyes you can spray into your hands and apply by patting on your skin, but I have not had any problems with my eyes when I used this.
My skin loved this product as being dry sensitive it did hydrate as well as sooth my skin and after a few days I did notice a difference , particularly in the redness and overall moisture levels.
I was a bit worried as this does contain some ingredients like witch hazel that I think of as an astringent used to treat spots, but this felt lovely and my skin drank this up . That being said I think this could be too oily for sensitive oily skin.
My skin does flare up quite often despite using quality brands and that is partly because some of the ointments I use for psoriasis transfer despite my best efforts and that I have very fair sensitive skin. So in my experience Dr Hauschka is a brand I trust ,as so far I have not had a negative reaction to any of their product range. I would therefore recommend this to anyone who has sensitive skin as it did live up to its promise to calm sooth and hydrate my skin.
I don't use this 4 times a year, probably twice -as it is quite expensive especially as you need to use this under a moisturiser.
There is enough product to last 28 days although I probably missed a few nights , I didn't count the days to be honest, simply used it until it ran out.
Would I Recommend
Yes definitely to anyone who has dry sensitive skin that is easily irritated , prone to redness, feels sore or inflamed. This will calm things down as it feels like you are treating your skin, yet it is so easy to apply. I love this product and am pleased I chose this, although I will try one of the others in the range at some point.
