WHAT IS IT?
A body wash to use in the shower that is made by Dr Hauschka.
This body wash has got a very beautiful smell. It smells like lemons and is very fresh and smells natural instead of being like chemicals. I like how strong it is when I am having my shower and when I am dry and dressed also I can smell the lemons on my skin for quite a long time. My husband is happy because it does not smell too feminine, that is because the lemon is not sugared and this body wash has got a very natural smell.
WHAT I THINK
I am very happy to have received this body wash as a gift and even though I wanted it to last for long I used it very quick because I like it so much. You do not get very many bubbles with this body wash because it is thick but I do not care about that because it is still a very nice product for me to use.
I feel very clean when I have washed using this body wash, I use it on a large sponge because I think that makes it go a lot further and stops me from wasting it. When I have a product that does not lather very well it tempts me to use more than I need to and I would not like to use this up very quickly and waste fully because it is beautiful.
I like also that the smell of lemon makes me feel awake and alert so I use this body wash when I have my morning shower instead of at night. It is very tangy and feels good on my skin, I do not think it is very moisturising and that is a pity because I have had to look around for a body moisturiser that has got a similar fragrance so that I do not hide the smell of lemons. Even though the body wash is thick it is very easy to rinse it off once I have washed because it is not sticky and does not irritate my skin at all in any parts.
This body wash costs about £12 for a tube that holds 150ml, that is expensive because the tube does not last for very long if you use it every day like I do. I do not think it is bad value though because it contains all natural ingredients and is good for your skin.
4 Dooyoo Stars.
I've recently treated myself to the Dr. Hauschka Lemon body wash and the Lemon body moisturiser. I first tried Dr. Hauschka products in Austria earlier this year. Dr. Hauschka is a German brand and so it is also very popular in Austria. The range is not tested on animals and is made from all natural ingredients. It's a very expensive skin care range, and it doesn't seem to be as readily available here in the UK as I found it to be in Austria. I've used quite a few of the Dr. Hauschka products now, and I'm becoming a big fan of the range. I purchased the Lemon body wash from John Lewis and it was £9.95 for a 150ml bottle.
The Lemon body wash comes in a tube which stands on its cap end, I like this because it then makes it easy to get the last few bits of shower gel out as they will naturally settle at the cap end and so there's no shaking or banging of the tube, or having to turn it upside down and wait ages for the last few bits to drip down to the cap end to enable you to squeeze them out. I like to ensure that I can use every last bit of expensive body products so that I can feel like I'm getting my money's worth! The shower gel is easy to squeeze out of the tube and it doesn't dispense too much at one time so that you end up using more than you need. The tube opens with a flip top lid rather than a screw off lid which makes it much easier to use in the shower with wet and soapy hands.
The scent of this body wash is absolutely divine, you can smell the delicious sweet and zesty ripe lemons in this instantly, and although it's quite a sweet lemon scent it's not too sweet that it's overpowering or sickly. This also has an hint and an undertone of ginger in it, which I think helps to make the lemon fragrance less sweet. The gorgeous lemony fragrance lingers subtley on my skin for most of the day after I've used this body wash, I do always follow this with the matching Lemon body moisturiser, so I am layering the lemon fragrance which will help with its staying power, but even so it only lingers subtley on my skin, it doesn't take over and clash with any other body products that I've used. I do prefer to use this in the morning rather than the evening as I find that it's quite an uplifting and invigorating fragrance, and so it's the perfect fragrance to start the day off with. It's fresh and tangy, as well as sweet and zesty, and it's actually fairly unisex I would say. I also think that the lemon fragrance seems more suited to summer rather winter.
This does feel like a very moisturising shower gel, and it doesn't dry my skin out at all. I do always follow this with the Lemon body moisturiser, but once or twice I have just showered and dressed if I've been running late and my skin hasn't felt dry or taut at all that day. This leaves my skin feeling moisturised, refreshed and clean, and smelling gorgeous. It actually feels very cooling on my skin. It lathers up really well in the shower and it feels really soothing and refreshing on my skin when I'm rubbing it in. It rinses off easily, and it just leaves behind the gorgeous subtle, sweet and zesty lemon scent. I find that I don't need to use much of this body wash at all in the shower as a little bit of this really does go a long way. This is suitable for all skin types; oily, normal, dry, sensitive and mature. My skin is more or less normal, and maybe just ever so slightly on the dry side, and this is perfect for my skin.
This is a really luxurious body wash, and I really love it. It's definitely something that I would repurchase as a treat for myself, or as a gift for someone - I say as a treat as it is very expensive at £9.95 for just 150ml of body wash. I'm slightly hesitant to give it 5 stars due to the high price, I'd probably give 4.5 if I could, as I'd knock a half a star off for the high price.
One of the things I love the most about Dr. Hauschka Lemon Body Wash is the scent. It's so natural and pure. Most of other body washes smells like synthetic chemicals trying to pass of as the real deal but with this body wash it's like your bathing with real lemons.
This body wash is for all skin types and soap-free. It uses high quality natural ingredients like shea butter and apricot kernel oil makes it suitable for those with sensitive skin, like me. After using this my skin feels so smooth and soft, unlike other brands with chemicals that makes my skin feels dry and squeeky. A good shower in the morning with this body wash perks me up, the natural scent is so invigorating and refreshing.
The only 2 downsides of this body wash are it's expensive (£10 per 150ml) and it doesn't lather up well. Anyone who is used to having a lather-y and bubbly body wash will be tempted to squeeze out more. Even though it doesn't lather up well it still cleans and washes well so there's no need to use to much body wash per shower.
I am a big fan of Dr Hauschka on one product that I like to use daily is their Lemon Lemongrass Body Moisturiser. I decided to buy the Lemon Body wash as I thought they would really compliment each other.
*Price & Availability:*
Not many places stock Dr Hauschka, my mum buys it from John Lewis online, what I like about John Lewis is they offer a wide variety of delivery options (evenings, next days, specific days and Saturdays all for reasonable prices). You can also buy online from Dr Hauschka direct at http://www.drhauschka.co.uk where delivery is free if you spend over £40 but the delivery options are not as flexible.
This moisturiser retails for around £9.95 for a 150ml bottle which Dr Hauschka say is suitable for all skin types.
*How to use:*
The product comes in a white flip top tube which I find quite handy. I started to squeezing a small amount (about the size of a 50p) onto my puff and wash as normal.
The first thing I noticed was the fragrance, the sweet aroma of lemons is quite dominant yet not too overpowering and it definitely helps to wake me up in the morning. The body wash also has ginger in, this was quite subtle.
The downside for me was that it doesn't really lather up too well so I tend to use more of this that I would my usual brand.
What I like about this brand is that they use completely natural ingredients and do not test on any animals. Also, they boast that where possible, they try and obtain most of their ingredients from certified biodynamic and organic sources.
Upon stepping out of the shower, my skin felt nice and soft and I could still smell the fresh sweet lemons. As I said before, I use alongside the Lemon Lemongrass Body Moisturiser and my skin smells quite fresh and 'lemony' all day long.
Because the product doesn't lather too well, I have found that a 150ml doesn't seem to last me too long as I use it daily. I think I will buy again but probably only use for holidays or special occasions.
I shower every day yet I found that this body wash leaves my skin quite well moisturised.
Overall, 4 out of 5 stars from me and I would recommend.
Thanks for reading.
Certain product specifics obtained from the Dr Hauschka website.
Dr. Hauschka Lemon Body Wash is made with natural and fair trade ingredients only which often makes Dr. Hauschka products very expensive for what they are however the Dr. Hauschka Lemon Body Wash retails at just under £10and if you shop around you can find it a little cheaper and get the best deal. I think this price is more acceptable for what it is and it's brand this is a 150ml bottle so it isn't overly large. The packaging for this is plain and simple like the rest of Dr. Hauschka's products.
This is just a body wash however I have seen a tip that said this can be used a shaving cream, which I though was a little strange. Starting to use this I put a little bit on my ex foliating mitts and it was a yellow gel and had the consistency to what you would expect from a shower gel. Attempting to lather this up to get it nice and frothy to begin washing and it hardly got bubbly at all, there was bubbles of course but it didn't feel as creamy or luxurious like it should coming from this brand because that's what I expected, because this didn't lather up much it meant I had to keep putting more of the product on my mitts so this doesn't go far at all.
As for the shaving tip that was given on www.beautybay.com I decided to give it a go, in the shower I covered my legs in this mildly soapy mixture and began to shave. I did notice that it was easier to shave and my legs were really soft when I rinsed them which I was surprised at, I didn't mind using this product for that because it means I could wash at the same time in so saving me some time in the shower or bath. The smell of lemons is very over powering in this product which I absolutely adore.
Thankfully the scent of lemons clung to my skin when I dried off I then dry my hair and wash my face and by the time I've done all that usually I can't smell anything any more but this scent was strong on my skin still and to top it all off I used Dr. Hauschka Lemon grass body butter to ensure my skin stayed soft and lemony. This product has a "hint of ginger" in it however I couldn't detect any scent of it which I was pleased about.
This Dr. Hauschka Lemon Body Wash has shea butter in it which helps to moisturise your skin which is why this product is so good for shaving with and just generally wash to help your skin be clean, fresh and soft. There is also witch hazel extracts in this which I thought strange as I usually only see this in spot treatments. This product I have actually bought several times over and that's a rare thing for me to do with Dr. Hauschka but I feel that the price of just under £10 is acceptable especially because the scent lingers and my skin is really soft and cleansed.
I was first introduced to Dr Hauschka products by my Mother in Law, who loves her natural products and essential oils. I have tried a few of their products over the years and have always dipped in and out of using them, but found them to be good when I do. The Lemon body wash appealed to me as I like to feel refreshed in the morning and having a blast of lemon in my shower usually wakes me up a bit.
I bought the body wash from my local health food store for £10.25, for a 150ml tube. The product comes in a plastic white tube that is simply designed, it has a screw top lid that is easy to use and does not leak.
The body wash is suitable for all skin types, including oily, normal, mature and sensitive. It is soap free and contains natural ingredients that aim to revive your body, and its plant oils soothe, nourish and soften your skin. The body wash contains lemon and ginger. It contains the following ingredients:
Spring water, Coco-Glucoside, Glycerin, Sodium Coco-Glucoside Tartrat, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Laurate Prunus Spinosa Fruit Extract, Hamamelis, Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract Lysolecithin, Capryloyl Glycine, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Fragrance/Parfum, Limonene, Linalool, Citral, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Plant Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Xanthan Gum, Sucrose Laurate, Propolis Wax, Xanthophyll, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex/CI 75810.
To use the product I squeeze a good amount of the body wash onto a shower puff and then clean my body, I find that as the ingredients are natural and plant derived that the body wash does not lather up as much as other body washes and at first I would use too much product trying to get a good lather going. There is no need to do this as it cleans very well the way it is designed. The scent of lemon is fairly strong and it definitely perks me up in the morning , the scent of ginger is not as strong as the lemon but its still refreshing. I find that the body wash feels creamy, in consistency, it is opaque in colour with a slight shimmer. It leaves my skin feeling soft and well cleansed and my skin does not feel tight after use. I have fairly sensitive skin and I have never had any issues in terms of irritation. I still use a body moisturiser after use, more out of habit that necessity, but I think with regular use I would be able to use it every other day. The scent lingers on my skin for a while after use, which is nice as the lemon smell keeps me feeling fresh.
Overall I would recommend this product to others as it smells great, leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and perks me up in the morning. The only downside to the product is that it is expensive, therefore I give the body wash 4 Dooyoo stars.
