Dr.Hauschka Neem Nail Oil
Advantages: Leaves the nails strong and conditioned and the cuticles soft
Disadvantages: Perhaps the price... But its worth it!
I spend a fortune on false nails because mine are quite weak that they constantly split and break. This means that my nails are all different lengths which doesn't look very pretty at all. I have tried nail polish strengtheners but they don't seem to help so my latest attempt at rescuing my nails is the Neem Nail Oil by Dr. Hauschka.
What does the product do?
The product serves a multitude of problems. The main reason that I purchased the product was because of its promise to help me grow beautiful, strong nails by encouraging the formation of strong and healthy nail tissue which in turn prevents my nails from snapping. It also claims to soften and sooth the cuticles. The product also helps to heal the nails and cuticles, and last but not least it promises to promote nail growth.
How does the product work?
The product contains a whole host of natural ingredients. The product contains the Neem leaf which is obvious from the name of the product and this ingredient helps to strengthen the nails. Peanut Oil is included for the same reason. The inclusion of this ingredient makes the product unsuitable for use of those with nut allergies. Both Apricot Oil and Chamomile is included to soothe and hydrate the cuticles which leaves them soft and conditioned.
How do you use the product?
The product can be used on both the finger nails and the toe nails. The product is to be used twice a day. You need to dispense a few drops from the bottle and then using your fingers on the opposite hand, you need to massage the product gently into the nails and cuticles. If you have any excess remaining on your nails, you can blot it away with a tissue.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a transparent glass bottle and you can see the honey coloured liquid inside. The top of the bottle has a golden dispenser which you push down on in order to release the liquid. The product doesn't come cheap but you wouldn't expect it to with this brand. Mine cost me around £25 for 30ml of the product and it can be bought from any department store with a Dr. Hauschka stand and also from a variety of online websites.
When the product is dispensed from the bottle, it comes out clear. It has the consistency of an oil which is not suprising considering the name. The oil has a slightly herbal aroma which is mixed with some sweetness. It isn't overpowering, although it is evident. You only need one push of the dispenser for all of your fingernails because you don't want to be leaving greasy fingerprints everywhere. Because of the consistency of the product, it is simple to massage into the nails and cuticles. When I don't think anymore of the oil will be absorbed, I blot away the excess with the tissue. Your fingers surprisingly don't feel greasy and as long as the excess has been blotted away, you're fine to touch your clothes and bedding immediately after.
The immediate effect of the oil is that your nails look instantly healthier. They are shiny and the skin around the nail is moisturised. With continued use, my nails have started to feel much stronger. I have experienced a lot less snapping which means that my nails look even and pretty. I've found that as the new part of my nail grows, if you look closely, you can tell it about from the old nail so it is clearly promotes strong and healthy tissue just as promised. I'm not sure if it's speeding up the growth of my nails but it's definitely helping to keep them long.
All in all, my nails look in an altogether better condition. They look shiny and healthy and my cuticles feel soft and hydrated. My nails are much stronger and I experience less snapping which means that my nails are all the same length. My nails are so much improved that I tend not to wear nail varnish anymore because my nails look nice enough on their own. This is an expensive product but it is long lasting and, in my opinion, worth every penny.
Summary: A great natural product to strengthen and condition the nails
