I don't suffer with spots as I have very dry skin, so when I recently had a very unexpected and unwelcome breakout of spots and small red lumps, I didn't have anything to hand to deal with them.
My skin was also ultra sensitive and was reacting badly to my normal skin care and make up , so I needed something that would be kind but also address the spot issue.
When I came across the Dr Hauschka pure care cover stick, I thought I had struck gold as not only did it claim to treat the spots, it also acts as a concealer to cover the little blighters.
Dr Haushchka use only natural organic ingredients and they have built their reputation around their organic holistic approach to skin and body care ,having used many of their products I thought this was a safe buy.
This comes in a box and the product is in a stick form rather like a long thin lipstick that you twist up to apply the product and then twist down before putting the top of the case on.
This is a concealer aimed specifically at covering and healing spots and blemishes.
It contains a range of plant, nut and fruit natural oils plus tea tree which gives it a medicinal
fragrance. It also contains manuka honey which has antibacterial properties and one of the ingredients is calendula or marigold which is known for its skin healing properties.
Simply apply as you would any concealer either directly from the stick or use a brush and use it to cover any blemishes you have. I used a brush as I think it is easier to control the amount you apply.
It comes in three colours I used the lightest colour natural as I have very pale skin.
You get 2g of product for £16.95 so not the cheapest on the market, but I think this will last me a while
What Do I Think?
I really like this concealer as it is quite a good match to my pale skin and I found it blended easily. I find the secret to good concealing is being able to apply just the right amount and very careful blending, especially with spots or raised bumps as I often find I have applied the concealer around the spot , which seems to highlight the spot more. I usually try to dot a small amount on with a fine brush and then lightly tap the concealer with my finger to blend it on my skin.
To be honest it had its work cut out as there wasn't much of my face that didn't have something that needed covering as on top of the red thread veins it also had to do spots and red bumps. Also I wasn't able to use foundation at the time as my skin was reacting badly to my normal products, so this was my one and only product I could use.
I was really pleased that I did not have an adverse reaction to the stick and it did a good job of covering most of the blemishes, without making my face look like a map of the moon.
I would say that it masked rather than completely covered everything and as the day wore on it wore off, so I had to reapply.
I have used this under makeup and it does stay put for longer with foundation and powder on top.
It did a very good job on the spots and what I really liked is that it did not simply dry the spot out and leave a flaky patch like other spot healers. Although I rarely get spots when I do they are whoppers that glow like beacons on my very pale face so I have used spot healer products before.
In terms of a concealer this gives good coverage and has a nice glide on consistency which is good for my dry skin.
I have yet to find a perfect concealer that suits my very dry skin and gives coverage as what I find is the heavy duty ones that do the job and provide cover are too dry and the more moisturising concealers don't give the cover.
This is not perfect in terms of concealing , but it did the job on the spots and they cleared up nicely and I was able to use this to provide some cover on my highly sensitive skin. Obviously you need to get the right shade for your skin and I found this shade suited my very pale skin.
Would I Recommend
Yes , this is great at clearing up spots and worked well on my very dry extremely sensitive skin. It has a nice consistency is nicely packaged and was a life saver as it helped conceal the spots redness and bumps.
Don't expect it to stay all day if you use it alone. I had to reapply, but that would be the case with any concealer that glides on my skin.
