I have loved the Dr Hauschka Rose day cream for years after a facialist recommended it to me for my dry and sensitive skin though it is very expensive and I like to switch my skin care routine up so as to not allow my skin to get too used to something and it to become less effective.
The light version of the day cream is a good alternative to the original day cream for those people with greasy skin as it is much lighter. It is also a good way of using the cream when the weather is warmer as the original cream is a bit heavy for hot weather as you end up sweating a lot of it out of your pores.
It still smells gorgeously of roses and you get all the benefits of the original cream and it is still excellent for sensitive skin as it really calms your skin down almost straight away and helps rebalance your skin stopping it from being so sensitive and reactive to things. It is lovely to use with the facial toner and it makes your skin so soft and smooth and just leaves it looking healthy and glowing.
The one negative thing about this cream is that as it is lighter it isn’t quite as nourishing on your skin which if it is winter you will notice because the original one really protects your skin from the wind and the cold and this one doesn’t do that quite as well.
It is good to use in summer though as it feels nice and light on your skin but you still get all the benefits of the natural powerful ingredients.
This is an expensive day cream but I think that the high quality ingredients and the fact that it leaves your skin looking so good makes it worth the money though for me I would nearly always prefer the original because it is just that bit more nourishing and although this is better in summer you can always just add a touch less of the original in summer instead.
I usually avoid cosmetics with the word rose in the title as I somehow always equate rose based products with women in the late fifties or older however that opinion has been changed by this excellent mositurtising day creamthat is very kind and nourishing to my skin. Like many of the products in the Dr Haauschka range this is not cheap, I paid 22 euro for it while in Berlin and this price was for a 30ml tube. I bought after getting advice from the cosmetics assistant who fortunately spoke flawless English as she said it was ideal for calming down inflamed and irritable skin as it had some dermatological properties to it.
The cream itself has a thick consistency and excellent coveridge so you do not need to use a lot in any one go, a small blob is enough for the face and neck area. It has a high concentration of rose extract in the cream and it has a light floral smell to it which does not linger very long after application. It absorbs into my skin easily and does not leave it looking shiny, instead it blends in nicely and in a very short time with gentle massaging.
It took a couple of days for my skin to return to normal so I was certainly impressed that teh shop assistant had given me the correct advice, during this time I had also been very particular over what I ate and I had drank a lot of water so this will have also helped. It certainly left my skin looking nice and refreshed and very smooth to the touch.
I have been impressed with how effective this cream has been and will certainly make sure that I have a supply of it available when this tube runs out in case I get a similar break out howevere I'm hoping that it was due to my having a bit of a cold and the dehydrating nature of air flight that caused the problem. One thing I do know is that this cream does work and justifies the price that it costs.
My friend works in the nutri-centre in central London which sells a lot of holistic and high quality products in terms of skin care and before she left her job she got a load of free samples of which she was generous enough to share with me (oh how kind!)
Recently my face has been breaking out in all kinds of mad spots leaving me freaking out! (Probably the cause of the spots lol!) So I decided to do a new regime of drinking a lot more water, and washing my face with a particular face wash and toner, and then applying this rose day cream in the day time.
- About the product -
I had never heard of him before, but after a speech from my friend I am now aware that Dr Hauschka is quite a renowned dermatologist and so his products are very high brow and have amazing results.
- The Rose day cream comes in a tube with a small hole which allows it to be easily squeezed into the palm of the hand and applied to the face.
- The cream itself is of quite a thick substance, so only a small amount is actually needed, I usually use about a pea size for my face as I have quite an oily face and don't like my face to Look too shiny.
- There are apparently 1075 rose petals in each tube so supposedly there is actually a high rose extract content
in the cream.
I don't particularly like the scent of roses, but there is a slight floral scent to this cream which is actually quite pleasant and I don't find too overbearing when applied to my face.
Slightly on a tangent, this Rose day cream is also quite good for baby moisturiser but as the trial size tube is so small (so there's little product as it is!) and I'm always sceptical about trying new products on my little one I didn't actually put this to the test!
This rose day cream (or any of Dr Hauschka's products) are to be used in morning or daytime as overnight skin excretes toxins so it is recommended to apply this cream in day time to set you up for the day ahead :)

It could be down to me drinking more water and the face wash and toner I have been using but I have actually noticed my skin has improved! I thought it was a case of me using the cream as a placebo and just imagining it looked better so I asked my partner one morning if he noticed a difference on my Face (once I emerged from the bathroom and used the cream etc) and he asked if I had put make up on! I took it as a compliment and felt so much happier! Heres to hoping he wasn't just saying it thinking it was what i wanted to hear (of course it was though lol!)
I feel like My skin actually looks brighter and Although there are still few bumps on my face I feel it sets me up for the day and my face feels softer and more toned.
The particular ingredient of rose petals is to strengthen the skin an soothe redness. This wasn't a big issue with my skin but I did find it helped smooth over where I had spots I had squeezed previously and was left with few bumps.
- Overall -
I am still savouring this trial size cream and have been making constant hints to my partner for the 30ml tube! (not that it is my birthday or anything just hoping he'll feel like doing a nice gesture!) I had this Rose day cream in trial size which costs about £3.50 but the 30ml tube costs around £24.
I'd definitely recommend to anyone out there looking for a pleasant day cream from a brand which genuinely cares about skin care! Bit pricey but compared to other face creams I've used there is a huge difference!
