This is another of my mum's goodies and like everything else from Doctor Hauschka, it is expensive.
Obviously I didn't buy it and my mum doesn't remember how much she paid for it (though this may be because my dad was within ear shot). On the Doctor Hauschka website it is
£24.50 for 100ml, and £4 for a tester of 10ml.
This is in a nice glass bottle, a nice change from plastic, and unlike most toners you spritz it on instead of rub it or apply it on. First you wash your face with a cleanser of your choice, apply a toner, and then moisturise.
I've never actually used a toner before so I wasn't really sure what it was meant to do (lol). After looking it up it is meant to reduce oiliness and make pores appear finer. Spritzing it on is quite fun as it is a novelty. It smells of roses which in my opinion is quite an older person's scent however.
The product contains witch hazel (the primary ingredient in hemmeroid cream) to refine the appearance of pores. It also contains amaryllis extract.
*Did it work?*
Well I did make sure to examine my skin after using it. I felt my pores maybe looked smaller (maybe a result of cleansing?) but after moisturising I couldn't really tell that it had done much at all except make my face smell a bit like my old aunt at a wedding.
In conclusion, I am afraid this is not for me! The product didn't make my eyes water, but it didn't do else either, and I am afraid the price is the thing that would make me cry.
I love Dr. Hauschka products though I don't buy them very often because they are just too expensive. Everything that I have tried from the brand has been lovely but I especially like their rose day cream and facial toner and I use these two in conjunction with each other the most often.
I start with cleansing my skin and then using the toner before applying the mosituriser. The toner comes in a glass bottle and instead of having to apply it to the skin with cotton wool you just mist the toner over your skin before patting it all over to absorb it into your skin.
This feels absolutely gorgeous when I spray it on my skin. It takes away any dryness from washing and leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft and conditioned. It also smells beautiful.
The toner helps prepare my skin for moisturiser and I always feel as though my moisturiser penetrates deeper after having used this. I'm not sure if that is the case or not but my skin always does feel nicer after having used this first because it feels more moisturised and conditioned than when I use a moisturiser on its own.
This contains lovely natural and organic ingredients and I feel that you can tell the difference with high quality ingredients more than you can with cheap high street brands. There are some nice high street toners and moisturisers but this is by far superior.
It leaves my skin looking dewy and super healthy and helps to even out my skin tone and really prepare it for the moisturiser.
It also lasts for quite a long time as you only need to spray it a couple of times each time you use it. I think having it in a spray bottle is not only much more hygienic but it really does make it more economical which is good because it is quite expensive to buy at about 20 a bottle. This is one of the times that I don't mind paying the money for it because even though I think it works best in conjunction with the rose day cream it also really works well with cheaper moisturisers so even if I run out of the rose day cream this toner really helps to improve any cheaper moisturiser too and it is one of my must haves in skin care.
I bought the Dr haushka day cream and the toner as they were recommended to me for my Rosacea skin. With having Rosacea my skin can be red and painful and a lot of products can aggravate the condition and actually make it worse in the long run. The Dr Hauschka range was supposed to help calm the redness down and help to rebalance my skin. I had more success with the toner than I did with the day cream as although the cream was a fabulous moisturiser it didn't really do a lot for the underlying redness.
I had to go into a salon to buy the toner as it can't be bought in shops or department stores and I actually found it quite difficult finding a salon that stocked it and there was only one in my town. It cost me £23 which although expensive worked out not bad value as it lasted me for absolutely ages. It comes in a 100ml bottle and is a little different from other toners that I've used as it came in a spray bottle instead of one where I had to pour it into some cotton wool. I really liked this as I think it is much more hygienic this way as it stops loads of bacteria getting into the toner.
The first thing I noticed was the smell of rose which is really quite strong with this toner. I am not the world's biggest fan of rose so this did put me off especially as I could smell it even when the toner had absorbed completely onto my skin.
I did persevere with using it though as it was just so nice to use and left my skin feeling fantastic.
To use the toner you just need to spritz some onto your skin after cleansing and let it absorb into your skin. You can help it along by gently patting it but you haven't to use cotton wool or anything to remove excess. As soon as I would spritz the toner it immediately calmed my skin down and although it didn't do much for persistent redness it was amazing at cooling and calming my skin down after washing it. It would take away any stinging and any slight irritation would be gone almost immediately.
It helped moisturiser just glide on my skin and when using this my skin was super soft and moisturiser would absorb great. This was with loads of different moisturisers as the toner lasted me so much longer than the Dr Hauschka day cream did. It is probably one of the most long lasting products that I have ever used even though I was using it on a daily basis.
I have slightly greasy skin and as well as having Rosacea my skin is prone to breakouts. This toner is one of the best things that I have found that actually seemed to rebalance my skin and leave it looking dewy but not greasy in any way.
After using the toner for a few months my skin was looking almost as good as it ever had before. The Rosacea was still there but it definitely seemed to be calmer and my flare ups were definitely less pronounced than they were previously.
Even though it was absolutely amazing and left my skin looking great I decided not to buy another bottle when I was finished as the smell or roses in this really left me feeling nauseous. However after trying several different products unsuccessfully I am going to buy another bottle as nothing else has managed to live up to this toner. I will just have to put up with the smell.
I would definitely highly recommend this toner if you have sensitive skin that is easily aggravated as it is amazing at calming skin down and as a bonus it also helps to degrease and leave it looking and feeling soft and supple.
