Last Christmas I received a small silver tin containing 5 files of Dr Hauschka bath oils. I have already reviewed several of the oils and would now like to tell you about the sage bath oil.
Dr Hauschka produces top end beauty products that are often used in salons. They all have a high price tag and the sage bath oil is no exception, costing around £17.95 for a 150 ml bottle. The oil is widely available although you may have to buy via the internet as it is hard to find on the high street.
The sage bath oil comes in a glass bottle with screw top lid. It has a golden colour and is fairly runny so take care when pouring! It is recommended for use in the bath and for soaking tired swollen feet. To use in the bath it is recommended that you first run a warm bath, keeping all doors and windows closed to prevent the vapour from escaping. Add a few teaspoons of oil to the bath and enjoy! Do not expect to get any bubbles using this oil! Dr Hauschka says that sage oil will help refresh and revitalise you. Sage is also good as a disinfectant.
Sage bath oil can also be used in a foot bath as it is good for helping tired swollen or burning feet. You can either use a foot bath or washing up bowl filled with warm water. Add a few teaspoons of sage oil and soak your feet for 5 minutes or so. It is important that you don't have the water too hot if you have varicose veins as this will aggravate them. Sage oil is good for preventing excess sweating and also helps to warm up cold feet.
This is probably my least favourite bath oil in my set! I am not keep on its rather antiseptic smelling aroma. I had expected it to smell like the sage in my garden but it bears no resemblance to it! In a bath it really has little effect as far as I am concerned and I haven't noticed any feeling of being refreshed or revitalised!
I have tried using it in a foot bath after a long tiring day and again I didn't really notice any special benefits. Soaking my feet in warm water with a little lavender feels far nicer as far as I am concerned! I can't comment on the claim that sage will help reduce excess sweating as I don't suffer from sweaty feet!
Overall I won't be buying this oil and found it really disappointing!
