Sonic Adventure (DC):
... Adventure is probably the most famous game ever released on the Dreamcast - it wholly revamped the Sonic franchise, bringing it into the 3D world, with amazing graphics, and whilst reaction to the change was naturally going to be a little mixed, what Sonic Team ultimately pulled off was a considerable achievement - a living, breathing world of one of the most acclaimed and beloved video game series of all time.... Soul Calibur (DC) ... fighting series had the title that started it all, and whilst a good portion of these games don t get it right on the first try, Soulcalibur on the Dreamcast unequivocably does, and it has even been argued that the numerous sequels (the fourth title most recently coming out last Summer), have, despite vast technological advancement, never lived up to the greatness of the original game, which is among the very few games that IGN have ever given a 10 rating. What made the game so initially popular was the 8-Way Run system, in which players could actually run in 8 directions, whereas previous fighting games, and still the vast majority today, only allow your fighter t... Tennis was arguably the first tennis game to really make the series any popular - prior to this, there were a few overly serious tennis games that never really made an impact on the PS1, but Virtua Tennis fully exploited its arcade-style aesthetic to give the game a real sense of fun, and a sense that has transpired over into numerous sequels on the PS2 and PS3. The gameplay is obviously very simple - you can either play a singles game, or a doubles outing, meaning you and three other players can all plug in controllers and whack balls at each other. What s more worth describing is the campaign mode, which is downright strange, but admittedly a lot of fun. Whilst ... Read the full review: Superb tennis game by shaneo632 |

Shenmue (DC) ... is, without a doubt, one of the best games ever made, and it s a profound shame that it never gained the audiences that it deserves - narratively conscious and visually stunning, this game, which was the most expensive ever made upon its release, is begging for a next generation sequel. The game revolves around Ryo Hazuki, a Chinese man whose father is murdered in front of his very eyes by a man known only as Lan Di. This sends Ryo on an adventure to hunt down his father s killers, travelling through countles districts, performing numerous jobs, and getting in lots of fights. Shenmue virtually redefined the RPG - much of the game relies on exploration elements, ... Read the full review: One of the best games ever made by shaneo632 |
