Dead or Alive 2 (DC) ... or Alive 2 is still one of my favourite 3D fighters. The Dreamcast was built for arcade games like this and it shows. The graphics are still appealling now. Characters and backgrounds are rendered smoothly and movements are fluid and natural. The game boast an interesting bunch of fighters. There s some typical characters like the Bruce Lee style fighter but there s some more unusual ones too. A Dennis Rodman look a like who can kick with the best of them, a cowboy type with some wrestling styles and more. The single player story is typically shallow as expected from most fighting games. Soul Calibur (DC) ... has to be one of the best beat em up games ever made for the dream cast! I played the original game when it vame out on the Playstation and dismissed it as Tekken with weapons. How wrong I was. I got Soul Caliber the first day it was out and haven t regretted the purchase for a single moment. I had always liked the Tekken series of games due to the excellent control system they used, but this game takes its cues from Tekken and just enhances the whole experience. The controls are intuitive and the graphics are unbelievable, with amazing detail and slick animation. This game is great for beginners and beat em up veterans alike due to its superb learning curve. Marvel vs Capcom 2 (DC) ... greatest crossover game ever? Quite possibly. A roster so big it puts King of fighters to shame? Definately. Broken tierings? Of course! It can only be Capcom s Marvel vs Capcom 2. It is pretty impressive that the DC version is virtually arcade perfect, surpassing the pretty accurate Xbox version and the awful Playstation 2 release. All the sixty plus characters are here, all the strange glitches such as the Gambit Glitch, make it in from the arcade and all the infinites such as Cable s AVHB and Magneto s ROM shenanigans made the cut. For the hardcore, this is the perfect conversion. Arcade perfect, simple training mode and plenty of options. For the casual gamer, I...
