The trouble with most flight simulators - plane games - is that they're just so darn boring - uncontrollable, horrible looking jagged grey plane shaped objects at your control pad's peril - why are these games even created? Aerowings 1 was a fair game - to be honest I am not a great fan of this genre, but the game did have some plus points - great graphics, they really were very slick, smooth and the frame rate was impressive. You could also handle the plane, there weren't 50 controls you had to master before taking off - it was a decent enough game, just a bit pointless as you couldn't really do anything. While the Dreamcast has had multiple quality titles in each genre, flight simulators haven't been one of those flooded genres. Way back in its infancy, there was a game called Aerowings, which was overlooked by many but praised by those who did get into it. It was a lighthearted game, including no include flight combat so it may have excluded itself from the traditional flight-sim market. The sequel has addressed this issue, and really does feel like a better game for it. The combat is challenging and the missions keep you on your toes. After playing the game for some days now, I can say that I am at least not diappointed about my purchase. Aero Wings 2 has not that much lasting appeal as airforce delta because the number of missions are very limited and don't offer that much variety in gameplay and graphics. After completimg the training mode, the games is simply all about blowing ballons or other planes to dust as fast as possible. But as you progress through the missions this gets very hard because of the good AI of the computer controlled pilots and the always existing timelimit. But that's quiete a challenge!
