Disadvantages: 2d graphics.

This is the slightly newer version of this game for the gamecube. Capcom VS. SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001
I remember back in the mid-1990s when I first played Street fighter 2 turbo and its sequel Super street fighter two great games that were very playable and quite addictive. Capcom manage to make a serious fighting game but fun at the same time, Could they keep the magic that was in old street fighter games? Read on to find out...

The Game
**************
The idea of this game is there are Characters from street fighter and they fight against characters from SNK another fighting game that I have never played or heard of. The idea of a fighting game is to knock your opponent out by emptying their energy bar before they empty your energy bar, or having more energy then your opponents if the time runs out. There are over 44 characters to choose from in this game.

The game modes
****************
The modes in this game are somewhat different from what I am used to from other Capcom games available on other systems. This game has many more options available to it.

Arcade Mode
************
Arcade mode games you 3 different styles of the game.

Ratio Match
************
Within this mode you select a team of 3 characters to use, you will use these one after the other, so if you are ken Ryu And Sagat and Ken is defeated Ryu will take his place and you will carry on the fight you will only lose when all 3 members of your team are defeated in battle. You will fight a computer team of between 1 and 3 computer opponents. The main advantage of this mode is you can change the attack power of your fighters by giving deciding who has the most attack power. 4 points gets shared between the 3 characters. I think this is a good mode and the point’s system works well and can be the difference between winning and losing.

3 on 3 Match
************
This is the same, as above but without the ratio system so you don’t get to share the points. This is simple a 3 player Human team versus a 1-3 player computer team. This is a good mode and is fun to play.

Single Match
***************
This is the same format as Street fighter games on the SNES one versus one match. Where you fight with just one player and so does the computer. This is still a fun format and is quicker then playing the other two apart from you have to win 2 rounds in this format to win a game.
Within all these formats the idea is to play the computer and win until you because the supreme championships either as a team or in the one player mode. Once you have won the championship There is a super at the end who congrats the team or player then the credits scroll through so nothing to special there.

Survival Mode
****************
There are two different survival modes. I will tell you a little about them.

All Survival
************
This is where you take on each character from both Capcom and SNK one by and you have to try Survive so basically don’t lose, your energy bar refills when you start a new fight. The Enemies get aggressively harder for each fight you face. This is a good Mode and is fun to play it can last a long time if you play well.

Survival
**********
This is where you fight enemies until your energy bar is empty. This is similar to above but much harder because your energy bar is not completely restored when you start a new fight but if you do well in your fight you well gain energy at the end of the round. This is a fun mode and I prefer this to All survival because that can go on for ages depending on how well you do.

These kinds of modes will keep you coming back to this game for more, if you are like me because I always want to survive for one more fight then I did before.

Versus Mode
***************
This is where you can play two-player with one of your friends, this has got to be the best mode well in my opinion because nothing beats playing with a friend and preferably winning this makes it all worth while. This mode will last your along time. You do the three modes that I already talked about under Arcade mode, Ratio Match – 3 on 3 Match and Single Match. I think this is the main reason I buy fighting games to tell my friends I’m really good then lose to them well I hope not.

Training Mode
*****************
This is pretty much tells you in the title what it is. This is a mode where you can choose any character and Practice with them and try to learn their special moves and their combo’s. A great little extra that is found in most Fighting games now a-days.

Replay Mode
***************
This is a mode that I don’t think I have seen in any games before. It is a mode that allows you record a game in versus mode and replay it; probably to wind up a friend that you beat them prolong the bragging rights. A good extra which I did not expecting on this game.

Colour edit Mode
********************
Another Extra and great little one it is too it lets you change the colour of the characters clothes there are wearing this is a pretty cool extra Nice to Ryu in a pink outfit or maybe not.

Game options
*****************
Like the Street fighter games on the SNES This has a detailed option which has the a similar system, Like the Level of difficulty is done by stars 1-8 the high the amount of stars lit the harder the game will be. There are also options like length of time in the game amount of rounds 1,3, or 5 in each game and you can also change the amount of damage you will take from getting hit and the game speed. This is a good option with a lot to choose from to make the game just the way you want it I personally like a long hard fight so this enables to do this.

Characters
**************
With more then 44 characters to choose this is a good selection I will name some of the characters. From street fight Ryu Ken, Sagat, Blanca and Chu-li There are many other street fight characters but these are some of the most well known they have kept all of there moves from the SNES days but may not always be pulled off in the same manner.
From SNK there are such characters as King, Vice, Raiden, And Rugal, I don’t know these characters from there previous games they were in but They seem to be similar in some ways to some of the street fighter characters but they have a lot of different moves I also think they look a bit cel-shaded compared to the Street fighter characters who look a bit more realistic even though they are still animated.

Moves
*********
This game has many moves from the basic kicks and punches, to the combos and special moves like Fireballs and kicks in mid air dragon punches, and Magic moves and many more. Some characters even use weapons like knifes and Vega with his long metal knife like Claws. There are many moves in this game and there are special moves that can be done, You have a Groove meter at the bottom of the screen for each character and once the meter is full you can release a special move that will take more of your enemies energy then normal because it will either be a bigger combo or more powerful. There are Different grooves A, C, S, N, P and K, each one of these have there own sets of moves because some are used for defense and some are for attacking.

The moves how responsive are they?
*****************************************
I think the moves react really fast to the buttons and control stick. But i prefer Using the D-pad because the moves seem to react faster and are easier to pull off, The system is faster then the SNES system but when you are Ryu it can be hard to pull off the Dragon punch and it seems that the Fireball keeps on being performed instead. Depending on which groove you use the controls can seem quite frantic and fast but you will get use to this if you use his groove a lot.

Stages
*********
There are a total of eight stages; each with a different theme there is one where you fight on a roof with a Turkish delight reddish sky, with a helicopter in the background. There is another where you are in the desert and where there is a race with 4*4s going on in the background it looks quite good with people cheering. The stages all look brilliant and all have a lot of detail in the backgrounds of them. The final stage you play in is like a ring with big television screens in the big grounds with snow around the place.

Sound
********
The music in this game is quite funky compared to music in the other street fighter games that are more Japanese orient music; in this game its rap or a kind of music with an up-tempo fast beat. The sound is quite good the sound of pain when a character is hit or and the sound of the punching and the kicking and the super moves have a very loud sound almost like a car speeding through a big puddle of water on a wet day.

Graphics
***********
This is quite a tough I think the detail of the stages is excellent and the game compares well to other games around, but I don’t think the look of the characters as quite yet caught up plus this is still only a 2d game so it does lack when compare to games Like Tekken and Soul Calibur. But saying this the graphics are by no means bad just different and they do there job efficiently well with no flicking or blurriness.

Gameplay
************
The game itself handles really well getting use to the grooves can seem a pain but you will get use to these and figure out which groove works for you best it just takes a bit of tinkering around. The players move smoothly and fast, the moves are quite easy to pull off, and the buttons also react fast.

Overall
********
I think this is a good game with a lot of different game options and Characters to choose from. The graphics and sound both do their Job efficiently and the game works well in general. But there are better Fighting games Available Such as Soul Calibur 2 and super Smash brother melee but if you have both of these games and fancy a change or are a Street fighter fan you will love this game like I do because it is great fun to play. I do recommend this game for street fighter fans or SNK fans and I feel this game should be available for kids from the ages of 11 and above as there is violence in this game. I give this game 4 star’s.
