Advantages: old style, good graphics, good music

Disadvantages: repetitive, ruined by new features, same old thing

Crazy Taxi was an arcade classic which almost everyone one has played, whether it be on the DC, PS2 or in an arcade. It is everywhere and it is an arcade favourite.

The basic idea of crazy taxi and crazy taxi 2 is to pick up a customer and take them to a required destination within a certain time. The faster you got the person to the destination the more money and time you will be given. These are the basic rules and you have to be quick in order to win.

Crazy Taxi was a complete success and the music, characters and levels were all arcade classics. This game was ported from the arcade into the consoles exactly the same with extra levels and bonus fun games which increased the length of the game.

Crazy Taxi 2 however is basically exactly the same as the predecessor, the layout is exactly the same. The only things that have changed in the game are the characters, levels and bonus stages. These have are a lot worse than they were in the original and they totally ruin the game atmospherically .

Again you have 4 characters and they all have there own skills and different cabbies. The game is based in New York and you either have a small version or the large version, these could be classed as two levels. Like in the original you still have the crazy box feature which has little mini games which add a bit more fun and length to the game.

The changes made from this and the original are very small. You can now jump by pressing one of the buttons. This feature really is bad because it just fails to add anything realistic to the game and just makes it worse than it already is. Also you can now pick up more than one customer at a time, this is a nice feature to the game but still doesn`t make up for all the bad ones..

The music is where I can say something positive a bout this game, the music which was on the first got a bit repetitive despite the fact they were all good songs. Now on the second they have added about 5 ex
tra tracks, most of these are by the offspring. This seems to go well with crazy taxi so its not a bad thing. You can choose which tracks are played so don`t worry if your not a big fan of the Offspring.

The gameplay is identical to that of the first one in ways of driving and in general like most of the game it has not changed one bit.

This game was a bit of a disappointment for me, being a die hard crazy taxi fan I was expecting a lot more from the second after such a big deal had been made about it. If you liked the original it would be best for you to rent this game before hand as you may be disappointed by the end result. Also for new buyers I suggest you either buy the original first or rent the second one out. In my honest opinion the original was 10 times better and you would be best to stay with the first

This game was a big let down to sega fans and crazy taxi fans and it tried too hard to keep the original style with added features and it failed.
