Advantages: Great graphics and fun gameplay

Disadvantages: Does little to evolve

Given how Crazy Taxi 2 isn't really much of an advancement, technologically or otherwise, on the original game, it's difficult to recommend unless you saw it for a few quid (which, 8 years on, is now quite a distinct possibility), but it's still a damn fun outing that somehow makes a taxi simulator game incredibly fun! You're essentially time-restricted, with the challenge being to pick up as many fares and make as much money as possible!

Of course, there's the requisitve array of zany characters, and this actually employs some thought, because the drivers will suit you better depending on what fares and what types of route you like doing - bumpy rides that require a sturdy vehicle will lend themselves better to some of the heavier drivers, whilst a breakneck bomb down the street might make you want to pick one of the sleek female drivers. Oh, and don't forget there's other cars, and of course, other people (although, disappointingly, you can never run them over!) to avoid if you want to get the top score.

As a package, it may not be an enhancement of the original game, but it's still a very well humoured and good-looking title that may be cartoony in nature, but has brilliant textures, and the passengers are dressed in a rather amusing array of outfits. Not to mention, plenty of funny dialogue has been recorded for the passengers, meaning that they'll spout something new most of the time, giving you the real cabbie experience (ish), I imagine.

Now that it's ridiculously cheap, it doesn't really matter if you have the original game, but I wouldn't go in expecting a huge improvement, because it doesn't so much improve things as add a few challenges and substitute some visuals. Graphically, it looks pretty much the same, but is still a fun outing, even if it's not really revolutionary in any respect.

Summary: A routine if fun game
