Advantages: Good records to beat, Single player takes a long time, GREAT multiplayer mode

Disadvantages: Control system takes some getting used to, Far too easy to land

There are really only two BMX games on dreamcast, Matt Hoffmans (see my opinion) and Dave Mirra. So after the dissapointment of Matt Hoffman I thought I might try out Dave Mirra.

Luckily, it is a very good game. The control system, although quite unusual, is quite easy to master. Unlike Hoffman, in Mirra you pick up speed by holding forward, not A. You only press A when you are at the top of the ramp ready to jump. This can confuse at the beggining, but is not hard to get used to.

There is the usual variety of tricks, Bus Drivers, No Hander Super Mans, Tailwhips. There are also a variety of pro riders to choose from, and each one has different stats and a wide variety of uniforms and bikes to unlock.

But my favourite feature of Dave Mirra is the records. There are individual records on each level for the:
best score,
best score from an individual trick
longest manual
longest grind
highest walltap
and many more. These help keep the game exciting long after completion, as you desperately try to beat your mates 15 metre grind, or so on.

There are also a whole host of crazy 2-player games, from a BMX version of the football game S-P-O-T, to the gnarliest crash, to basic trick scoring.

However, Dave Mirra does have a downfall. Tricks are far too easy to land, and you often end up landing even on one wheel. This can be furstrating.

Still it is a very good game, better than Matt Hoffman, so if you want a BMX game, this is the one. It is even available from GAME for £15.
