A long time ago, back in the era of Amigas and Megadrives, when 16bit was king, I bought issue 1 of a magazine called 'Click'. It only made it to issue 2 before vanishing from the shelves, no doubt having been filed under "Good idea at the time". 'Click' was novel because it came on video, with filmed interviews of game creators along with videos of games in action. One particular interview was with two groups of programmers both porting the arcade game 'Indy Racer' to home computers, one to the 16bit Amiga, the other, the 8bit Commodore 64. When asked about the problems of coding for an 8bit machine the programmer replied that, unlike ... Read the complete review

"Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines!" Well, after the Sega Saturn's demise they're selling at next to nothing prices second hand nowadays, and you could easily pick up a Saturn and both versions of Daytona - CCE and the classic original Daytona USA for less than the price of this version, the screeching Daytona USA 2001! But you shouldn't oh no, well you could, just so long as you get this one as well. Forget the fact that the Dreamcast production has ceased - already this year we've had a few classics and Daytona USA 2001 is no exception! Now read on and pay attention! Daytona USA is every bit as impressive as the arcade ... Read the complete review

Ah, memories. I can still remember the thrill of my first play on Dayatona, sat in the oversized driving seat, tearing around the oval circuit at breakneck speed. For me it will always be the definitive driving game, spinning around corners at ridiculous angles, the cheeziness of the 80s rawk soundtrack the delight of beating my best mate, the sheer exhilaration of it all. Sadly whilst its counterpart of time Ridge Racer survived the transition to 32 bit console pretty much unscaved, Daytona did not fare too well. The Saturn version, was not to put too fine a point on it, awful. A juddery, jerky mess with some of the worst pop up ever seen in a driving ... Read the complete review

well as a recent convert to the Dreamcast one of the first purchases to make was Daytona 2001 and I can only say what an amazing game this is. For anyone who was a fan of the arcade this is a must, and those that missed the arcade version can now enjoy the experience in their own home, and boy what fun it is! A choice of all the tracks from the arcade plus many new dreamcast only tracks just adds to the value of the game. Perfect graphics with the 60hz option, very fast with zero pop up just makes this a joy to play. With four cars to choose from at the start, each with their own advantages and disadvantages suited to the beginner and pro, but extra cars become ... Read the complete review
