Dead or Alive 2 was the first game I played on the DC and the one that led me into beat-em-up heaven. Before I start i'd like to point out that I will never award a game of this genre 5 stars, purely because I have never played one that lasts for more than a couple of weeks. While the game is light years ahead of any other beat-em-up i've ever played it still struggles to keep the players attention like an RPG or Adventure game would. This is not a criticism, just an explanation. Anyway on to the game, anyone who's seen it in action will back me up in saying that the visuals are remarkable. The backgrounds and arenas are beautiful, the best i've ... Read the complete review

This Game is great! But it's still not the best Fighter on DC. Let's break the game down into the usual Sections: Graphics DOA2 looks very nice. The characters look nice and animate well, but it lacks the texture detail of the Soul Calibur characters. The Backgrounds look nice, but again, not much better than SC. Winner : Soul Calibur Sound Not something i pay much attention to really, but i 'd say DOA2 comes up short here. The effects are fine but are way over-the-top, and the music is poor. SC has really good scores to match it's levels and The charcters have better speech. Winner : Soul Calibur Characters ... Read the complete review

The original Dead or Alive was an interesting game. Based on Sega Model 2 arcade hardware and sporting a combat system which leans heavily towards a parrying system, Dead or Alive had two especially interesting features. Firstly, the outer edges of the arena was known as the ‘danger zone’ and knocking an opponent down in it threw them high up in the air making big floating possible. Secondly, it female fighters were rather, errrrnm, ‘well rounded’. Dead or Alive two drops the dangers zones, but the later aspect is still very much present. Dead or Alive 2 uses a variant of the Virtua Fighter combat system. The main controls are punch, kick ... Read the complete review

Right, Dead or Alive 2 – I’m coming with you! This is another great fighting game on the Dreamcast games console, and this time 4 of you can battle it out in some supreme Tag battle action – there’s plenty more to float your boat too, but the best point of the game is the multiplayer activity. Gameplay – the controls are good, very easy to learn and some stunning moves can be performed with a little practice. Counter moves are impressive – learn the right button combination and you could become unbeatable! The game plays really well, in all modes, aside from the slightly boring and empty story mode – daft stories, ... Read the complete review

Dead if you ask me. The guy's clearly a moron! Some babbled Japanese gibberish crap about cloning (well isn't it always?), memory loss, personal passions and private missions. Please. I'm sure the paying customer would have been more forgiving if the story writers had just written at the start of the game: 'Sorry but we couldn't find a relevant storyline so we didn't actually bother. Still, it's a beat 'em up. You've got fighting, be satisfied!' Beat 'em up? It's not the name of the genre, it's what needs to happen to the writers! Well, this game can be divided pretty evenly between good and bad ... Read the complete review
