... one small thing to get out of. This is so easy I'm quite sure that most gamers have just passed straight through in not more than two minutes. Don't do that - the music for this small segment of the game is a superb, ethereal 6-minute choral piece which is absolutely worth listening to on its own merits. For an even better effect, move "Ecco" to the middle of the chamber - the camera switches to long-shot mode and slowly circles the chamber, focussed on the centre and "Ecco". Because of ...more

Crowned Review Ecco the Dolphin - Defender of the Future (DC): Ecco is what we 'waded' for!! (469 words)
by - written on 18/07/00 (Very useful, 41 readings)
Rating:

I anticipated this game greatly as I was a big fan of the rock hard Mega Drive original. This 3D sequel has been in development since the Dreamcast was devised but is it any good? The answer is yes, no the answer is it is VERY GOOD. Its everything we could have hoped for. Amazing graphics that will see your jaw hitting the floor the moment you see it and the gameplay is to die for. As soon as you enter the first level you will be hooked but it really depends on what sort of gamer you are to find out how long the magnet will pull you in. Hardcore adventure freaks will be amazed at the expansive nature of the game. It is one of the biggest titles I've ever played. ...  Read the complete review

even though i dont want this game it does look really good, so i'll review it, your this dolphin called "ecco", he has to save the world(strange mission for a dolphin!), so you must battle through levels filled with ememies,ie, sharks.on your adventures you meet other dolphins which are friendly, you also meet a whale and a huge manta ray who you must help to earn access to new areas, i've been told there are a few glitches in the game but i dont now of any. This game has really good graphics, ecco looks so real. i would recommend this game to any people who liked the ecco games on megadrive, and to anyone who like this kind of adventure game. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ecco the Dolphin - Defender of the Future (DC): DEEP SEA HEAVEN (401 words)
by - written on 18/08/00 (Very useful, 32 readings)
Rating:

As soon as you begin this game you realise that the developers Apaloosa have spent an awful long time on it since the whole package screams of class. Never before has a game achieved such stunning realism with it's graphics. Simply put Ecco's graphics are fantastic and Ecco himself looks real enough to touch as do the coral reefs and other underwater environments in the game. The first time you see the great white shark and octopus will bring a tear to your eye and make you wonder how you ever managed with poorer graphics. Despite Ecco, the reefs and underwater environments looking stunning they are also populated with life. Manta Rays hide at the base ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Top Class Game!!!! (330 words)
by - written on 03/08/00 (Very useful, 10 readings)
Rating:

The problem with Dreamcast games is that they are so expensive, and when you are paying nearly £40 for a game it has to be good to justify the price. Ecco the dolphin is not a new character, we have seen Ecco on a Sega Megadrive game as well as a PC version of the game, however, this version of the game is far superior. To start with the graphics are absolutely stunning, the oceans and landscapes that you will travel through whilst playing the game are beautiful with the 3D effect adding so much more than is available on any other version on the game. The graphics are seen in full glory when you play the game by allowing Ecco to jump and twist and perform all ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Ecco the Dolphin - Defender of the Future (DC): Like a fish IN water!!! (236 words)
by - written on 29/07/00 (Very useful, 7 readings)
Rating:

Ecco the Dolphin is the most beautiful game ever made.It is also the hardest.I myself can't get past the great white shark on level two(help is wanted, tips are welcomed, nudge nudge).Don't let the difficulty put you off,for what we have here is a deeply involving game which will last you an eternity. The gameplay is tough but rewarding. You swim around, helping creatures, getting rid of sharks(or not in my case)finding things for other creatures and racing dolphins and many more different objectives. The controls are wonderfully responsive and Ecco moves just like a real dolphin. You can even do that thing on top of the water,on it's tail.If you don't know what ...  Read the complete review
