The cars look very realistic with excellent lighting effects, without being over shiny. You only have a choice of racing F355s, but that’s not such a problem, although I do feel a Ferrari racing game with all the models would be impressive. Racing an old Testarossa against an F60? Fantastic! Plus points: Graphics, they really are superb, with great sound too. Handli...more

Crowned Review F355 Challenge (DC): Doubts @ 1st... (1590 words)

But then, misconception is a great thing, as I really didn't think F355 would be up to much after learning that there would only be 1 in game view, 1 car and incredibly difficult handling - I was quite pleased to have been proved wrong! After some extensive play testing, I am now able to write my review on the 3rd best racing game on the Dreamcast. Metropolis Street Racer and Le Mans 24 being the top 2 (I cannot really decide which order – it’s a matter of personal preference), but Ferrari F355 Challenge ‘Passione Rossa’ is a very impressive racing simulation. However, when Daytona USA Online arrives, I think Yu Suzuki’s game will be ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fantastic, yet frustrating (566 words)

Why do lemmings jump off cliffs? Even though they know from watching others that it's a bad idea, they go ahead and leap anyway. In the same way, I keep asking myself why on earth I keep returning to Ferrari F355 Challenge. OK, maybe that was just an excuse to fit lemmings into my review, but there are similarities between those strange creatures and my F355 career, and those similarities stop me from loving the game quite as much as I otherwise could. The game looks and sounds great, with the distinctive roar of the F355's engine used to great effect and telltale puffs of transparent smoke showing when your opponents have locked up under ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review F355 Challenge (DC): Thrash a Ferrari? Yes please! (760 words)

There are two main types of driving games – simulation and arcade. Personally I prefer the reality of the simulation driving titles but as we all know, arcade thrills (like in Crazy Taxi) can be a lot of fun too. One game that can only possibly be described as a total simulation is the rather splendid F355 Challenge on Dreamcast. As the title suggests, you’re car is going to be a Ferrari F355 (and cor blimey what a beauty of a car that little baby is). I’ll warn you now – it’s the ONLY car in this game too so don’t let your imagination run away with you if you’re expecting other Ferrari’s as extra ...  Read the complete review

Why I cannot think of a better game have I played in ages! The graphics fail to disappoint and yet there’s something far deeper than any polygon can show! The game plays like an absolute dream, and in fact if this were not a Dreamcast game it would persuade me to buy the console for which it was on! F355 is superb to play as I have already said, the game houses all the best tracks from around the world, and despite the ‘1 car’ deter, I think more people will get this as it’s a true hardcore racing game! The lighting effects will simply blow you away, and despite the awful music, you’d really believe you were in an actual Ferrari ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review F355 Challenge (DC): Just like the Real Thing (187 words)

Ferrarri F355 simulates the Ferrarri incredibly. Having played this game for a couple of weeks now I feel pretty confident that if I was to get behind the wheel of one I'd be able to get it round Silverstone at an insane pace. Sounds great huh? then I realised that I had all of the assists turned on. It was like all I had to do was point the car in the right direction and I was still finding that pretty tough. Ferrarri 355 is NOT a game for the casual racing fan they will find it insanely frustrating. Major fans of the ferrarri cars may be in heaven here though. They couldn't have made a more faithful conversion. As you may have realised by now there ...  Read the complete review
