The evil Skorne has escaped from captivity and has scattered 12 Rune Stones across five regions, and has assigned a guardian to protect them in its absence. It is up to the player's character to collect these stones and banish Skorne back into captivity. I've found this title continually difficult. It definitely keeps with what I experienced so long ago. "Gaunt Legends" is a video game which was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 by Midway. It is an action adventure game based on an earlier freestanding arcade game of the same name; itself a remake of the original 1980s "Gauntlet". In the United States, the game received a rating of "T" which deemed it appropriate for ages 13 and above. The gameplay of this title is essentially what was seen in the 1980s. Players assume the role of one of eight available characters and begin their adventure. The game revives the original four characters seen in the 80s (Wizard, Warrior, Valkyrie and Archer) and implements a further four to ...  Read the complete review

Gauntlet Legends is one of those games which is bound to split opinion. Other reviewers have complained it is boring and one dimensional, but for me, that is probably a generational difference of opinion. I loved this game. Yes it is one dimensional as you run around a variety of locations killing monsters. I use the term 'variety' in it's old skool sense, where a field, a graveyard and a pirate ship are not considered hackneyed and stereotypical. There are hundreds of monsters to kill, complete with their generators. You have to get the food, you have to scare off Death with your magic, you have to kill big bosses and collect keys. In essence, this ...  Read the complete review

Does the name ring a bell? Played this in the Arcade’s have you? Well now is you chance to take a little bit of the arcade game with you! When you talk about perfect arcade conversions, you may as well be talking about Sega, because I think no-one does it better! This is another fine example both of the ability of Sega to produce a perfect console conversion, and also demonstrate just how good the Dreamcast really is. Not only have they taken everything that the Arcade version had to offer, but also added a whole lot more just for us lucky Dreamcast owners – similar in they way then added to Crazy taxi! I think Sega now puts the gamers first, and the ...  Read the complete review

A long long time B.X. (before Xena) there was a game that was the king of hack and slash, a game called Gauntlet. In this game that is not that different to Diabilo II you have to kill thousands of Ogres, orcs, goblins, and other assorted minions of hell to get to the big bad, a really big demon summoned by a stupid wizard.(the originality of these game writers - it's incredible isn't it) At heart is is a faily basic S&D (search and destroy) game, you enter a dungeon (god knows why, you'd thing that people would figure out that dank dungeons and heroes don't mix) and try to find the exit, with the only thing stopping you is a ...  Read the complete review

Gauntlet Legends (DC): Hack, Slash and Whack. (178 words)

The best part of this game is by far the Multi-player part of the game. This game is really quite boring in single player mode but in the 2,3 or 4 player mode it is quite a decent game. The is a major flaw in this game and that is that it is far too easy. Well at least, for me it is. This game is a 3d scrolling beat em up. This game reminded me of the Sega Megadrive classic "Gain Ground". Your objective is to slash and hack ure way through hordes of different enemies such as : Humans, Scorpions, Rats and many more. There are Differnt worlds with different stages in each world, rarther like Crash Bandicoot 3 on the Playstation. There is somthing about this ...  Read the complete review
