Advantages: little known, so it should be cheap
Disadvantages: hard to find, samey gameplay
A long long time B.X. (before Xena) there was a game that was the king of hack and slash, a game called Gauntlet. In this game that is not that different to Diabilo II you have to kill thousands of Ogres, orcs, goblins, and other assorted minions of hell to get to the big bad, a really big demon summoned by a stupid wizard.(the originality of these game writers - it's incredible isn't it) At heart is is a faily basic S&D (search and destroy) game, you enter a dungeon (god knows why, you'd thing that people would figure out that dank dungeons and heroes don't mix) and try to find the exit, with the only thing stopping you is a ludicrous amount of monsters, being sped out by huts, holes, other things that evil guys can come out of, and destroy it, then carry on with your quest. However with all of this praise there are a few (small) holes in this game, you can't see very far into the dungeon and so you don't know wheter there is nothing around the corner, or 40,000 goblins (not a good thing) There is another good thing about this game, which every good RPG should have, an experience points system so the more goblins you kill, the more you can kill and so on. The game has lost a (very) little of its touch and while wading through hundreds of ogres and opening up a whole can of whup-ass on them is a lot fun, the game can get a little samey, still not a bad buy, if you can find it.
