Advantages: great plot, great fighting systems
Disadvantages: none
Simply put, Grandia 2 is a must have RPG for any Dreamcast player. This is one of my favorite RPG's of all time. It is a lot different than other games out there, and those differences really make this game fun.
A little about the plot (without spoilers):
You start off as Ryudo with his bird Skye, talking about a job you just completed. As you walk down the path, you find a note regarding another job. He reads the note, complains about it because it has to do with the church, but accepts it anyway. He goes into town, talks to the Priest, finds out what he has to do, and agrees to it. After he takes her to the church, the plot really begins, and that is as far as I will go with that, you will have to play the game to find out the rest :).
The fighting system in this game is so fun and well thought out. It is real-time/turn based. You can attack only so often, and you can see when you will be able to on the action bar in the left hand corner. It also shows when the enemy will be attacking. My favorite part is that when an enemy is preparing for a big move that takes a while to do, you can use a special move with the cancel attack feature and it will prevent them from attacking. If you are leveling up, there are also save cones that save your game and restore your health and magic for free.
Overall, the plot of this game is really deep. I have taken a lot of good quotes from this game, and have used them in my everyday life. I suggest you play this game and really get into it!
