If this were a good game, I'd praise it. But I wont because it's crap. One day, there will be a good motorboat game, and to be frank, this isn't it. Hydro Thunder lacks even basic functions required for good games - innovation, options, thrills and creativity are all lacking in this wonderfully flawed spectacle of the water-racing genre. Originally released in the arcades, Hydro 'Thin'der has subsequently joined the Dreamcast, Playstation and N64. Hydro Thunder is made by the same people as 4 Wheel Thunder, it's all in the name and it's all in the game - very similar styles of gameplay, which is a good thing, but I do prefer Hydro Thunder to the offroad, but onland racer. Hydro would suggest the game has something to do with power from water, and thats exactly what it's about. Powerful water boats that look like futuristic flying machines, for you to take control of and steer to victory with the handy use of power ups. I don't always like games with power ups, they all seem to be blatent rip offs of Mario Kart on the SNES/N64. Hydro Thunder is nothing like Mario Kart though, ... Read the complete review

A lot of people don't take notice of this game. But up and down through the countries bargain bins you will find this game at a very cheap price (£7 in my local EB). So basically you drive your boat down rivers and have to win the race, blah blah blah. However this game differs to the other hundred Dreamcast racers by: 1) Being on water, it has a very different physics engine 2) Nifty boost system The water theme seperates this from the competition, so you won't have to go back to yet another boring street racing game.
