Advantages: GREAT GRAPHICS NEVER SEEN ON ANOTHER CONSOLE

Disadvantages: NO TWO PLAYER MODE

November saw the release of the Playstation 2. This you thought would cause a drop in sales of the other consoles and games. Sega decided to release a game Jet Set Radio. Jet Set Radio was not like that it sold pleanty of copies to many pleased gamers. I was one of these gamers the game had everything i had hoped for, great graphics, great original gameplay and best of all good characters. After seeing an article in a magazine just after buying my dreamcast I brought this game all because i had read one article on it in a magazine. The article showed clips of the game which looked excellent. There was said to be huge levels and cartoony graphics which I just had to see. When I got further into the game I found that the levels were huge and you could obtain extra characters as you went through the game. The characters were great all with different abilitys there are three categories of ability, Power, Technique and Graffiti. The modes you can choose from are new game, tutorial, load and options tutorial runs you through the basics of how to control and spray the surronding area. In the actual game there are modes that you unlock that you can skate around and earn points in a time limit. Also there is another mode that lets you skate around and try and spray everything in the time limit.

To start off with you are Beat founder of the GG's, before you get in to the proper game you have to acquire some groupmembers . The game takes you to Mew she is a half decent character and has some moves that if you do them then she will join the GG's, so she sets off and does some fairly easy tricks. This makes Mew very easy to obtain. She wears a pink dress and has her power stats are half for her life, three quarters for her technique and her Graffiti is just over half. Another character challenges you it is Tab he looks cool with his overalls and has some good stats only to be let down by his Graffiti. Beat wears sun glasses a yellow top and black trousers. Fir
st you meet Mew and no it is not the pokemon, she says if you can pull off the moves that she does she will join you. When you go to do a mission sometimes a rival approaches you first to do this is Gum. She has very poor health , good technique and excellent Graffiti. Her white dress and stripy shirt strands her out from the other characters but i suppose they all stand out in one way or another.

The next player to give you a challenge is Garam he wears shorts and has fly eyes which make him look cool. Garam's strength is very good but his other attributes are poor but he is still my favourite character so far. Yo-Yo is the next challenger. To obtain Yo-Yo you have to race through a level and Graffiti a wall before your opponent does. This I think is the hardest part of the game were you have to race a character through a level. The character does stop and wait for you at a certain point but if you want to win you have to be ahead of him all through the race. The opponent has a tactic of taking you off in the wrong direction and then disappearing but once you find out were they disappear to youcan easily beat them and on one of the races there is a way of skiping the character out wjhere they stop. Yo-Yo has some quality clothes a yellow hooded jacket and black trousers. There was one partr of Yo-Yo that impressed me was his excellent graffiti but unfortunately this means some other stats have to be low and the creaters chose his life.

Now the coolest player in the game challenges you Combo is a very big which means he is slow but has the highest of life so high it's nearly full he also has poor technique and good Graffiti. His clothes and jewelry are a big gold chain round his neck a black t-shirt with another t-shirt underneath. To top it off he has black trousers. He has a friend who comes with and she is called Cube they are from another city which is there turf but someone has been Graffitying it and has kidnapped there partne
r. So they have come to see if the GG's can help find there mate. Cube is dressed all in black and is the most average player on the game. The penultimate person is Piranha she has very good power and technique but poor Graffiti.

The last player to join the GG's is Slate. He has a very big nose and some great clothes stripy trousers and a shirt. I think he is the best player because he can carry forty spray cans unlike anyone else.

I will talk about the levels I will start with, Kogane has a large group of houses with a huge sewer and lots of hidden areas, to get to most of the hidden areas you will have to go through buildings which lead to extra areas. In the levels there is a Jet Set Radio sign that if collected gives you more Graffiti to choose from. This gives you more incentive to collect them and properly complete the levels.

Benten-Cho is a huge level with lots and lots of grinding rails, this level is one of the hardest to complete whatever the job you have to do. This is the level that i spoke about earlier the one were you have to race. There is a secret subway which takes you to different parts of the level. There is also a lot of spraying to do on this level. This level took me a few days tro complete.

Shibuya-Cho a level with very high jumps lots of grinding rails and back alleys this level is a mixture of the other two but all the jumps are higher and grinding rails further.

There are two extra levels where you meet the Rhino gang one of these levels is brilliant and is my favourite. I think it is my favourite because there is tonnes of grinding and some very high jumps. The last level is very easy and takes a couple of minutes to complete. If you find the last level hard then do the two bits of Graffiti where you have to cross the turning things first then the ones you get to by grinding.

The overall game is brilliant with great graphics and gameplay. The characters are brilliant
and don't need any improvement. If you haven't got this game it is a must buy or borrow it of a mate.

You've certainly written a lot and I agree with the verdict but I've only rated this 'somewhat useful' because you seem to spend loads of time taking us through the characters in the game and none at all telling us your opinion on more important things like the gameplay, structure, longevity and such. 'Jet Set Radio' is an excellent game though.
