The film also recieved considerable acclaim for being among the first games to create authentically photorealistic representations of many of the world's most famous cities, such as London and Paris, as well as implementing a proper weather system that alternated accurately between day and night (and most amazing, is attuned to the time zone that you're living in as relative to the other countries you race in!) Crowned Review Metropolis Street Racer (DC): A slightly flawed masterpiece. (1297 words)

For anyone who hasn't heard about Metropolis Street Racer (MSR) before now, it represents the biggest leap in videogame arcade racers since Gran Turismo on the Playstation and Ridge racer before that. Remember how you felt the first time you saw those games running? Well, be prepared to be stunned in a similar manner as you plug in and play a videogame with it's eye firmly on the title of 'Best home console racer'. All the usual racer options are present and correct including 'Quick race', 'Time trials', a two player mode and the jewel in the crown that is the 'Street Racing' mode. This contains 25 chapters of increasing ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Leaves 'Gran Turismo' in the dirt!! (1045 words)

Before I begin I would like everyone to know that this is without a doubt the BEST DRIVING GAME EVER ON ANY FORMAT. In fact it is so much better than any existing driving game in every way that it even make Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 looking like a piece of turd. The prospect is simple, "It's not how fast you drive.....It's how you drive fast". This, the MSR slogan is precisely the rule you must follow. Gone are the days you could bounce off every wall on the track and come first, this is totally different. It's all about KUDOS, a unique scoring system that rewards you with driving stylishly rather than quickly. If you powerslide around a ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Metropolis Street Racer (DC): MSR RULES SUPREME (1104 words)

With the launch of the world’s greatest racing game just on the horizon, I thought I’d write a review of the world’s current cream of the crop driving simulation. It’s not even here yet, but already Gran Turismo part 3 is the undisputed king of the video game empire, has anyone thought for a second that it might actually fail to live up to the hype? Maybe, but it’s going to sell by the “bucket load” as the Sony PS2 magazine will tell you countless times, and from the screens, videos and demos, it does look pretty special. That isn’t the point though. It’s time to think back to last November, when Sega and Bizarre ...  Read the complete review

OK so this isn't a very important opinion - you know, it's not a topic of controversy or something like that, but here I go anyway. I have heard a lot of viewpoints on this game (Metropolis Street Racer - Dreamcast) and from this I have been able to see that most people love this game. But I have also read a few opinions that suggest that the game isn't quite as good as people think. I will outline a few points, and discuss what each means for the game. 1. The graphics - no doubt if you have seen this game, then you were probably very impressed by the graphics. They are very polished. For starters, the vehicles included in ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Metropolis Street Racer (DC): It'll blow you away (1304 words)

I LOVE driving games. They are without a doubt my favourite genre when it comes to gaming. I’ve loved and played the best: Grand Prix 3, Toca 2, Gran Turismo, Sega Rally......the list goes on and on. Then came this. If you’re a Dreamcast owner it’s very unlikely that you’ve been able to escape the publicity (I don’t want to use the word ‘hype’ here) surrounding this title. In fact, this game was supposed to be one of the first titles on the Dreamcast. It was originally going to be out just after the Dreamcast’s October ’99 launch date but it didn’t happen. Months went by ...  Read the complete review
