Phantasy Star online version 2 is a great RPG for the Sega Dreamcast. I have been playing this for years, and even played online before they shut down the servers. To start, you get to choose from 12 different types of characters, each with different advantages and disadvantages. Some characters are strongly offensive, and some are strongly support, and it is up to you which character and strategy you would like to create. This game has a good story line. Phantasy Star online, Brilliant... Where do i start... At first you can choose a character and make the appearance of the character height, weight etc etc.. You start in the forest at level 1. The more monsters you kill the better your level goes up and the stronger you get and are more resistant to attacks. On the way you find boxes which can include anything good at any time or can include just Monomate for your health or Monofluid for magic. You pick up Magic attacks also and when you pick them up you have "learnt" that magic attack, but it doesnt stop there once you have picked them up, you can pick ...  Read the complete review

*A review of Phantasy Star Online Version 2 which only considers the offline aspect of the game!* I don't believe there are significant differences between this and the first version of the game to warrant going for one over the other. While the official servers are down there are means of playing this game (or any other PSO title) online. However, for those who do not know enough to get it set up (like me) is it worth it for the offline experience? Firstly, there are a handful of unique character types to choose from, and then it's off to the Hunter's Guild - undertaking quest missions here sums up offline in a nutshell. The story - whatever there is of it - ...  Read the complete review

Great multiplayer mode A little too difficult for some

Arcade perfect conversion, great graphics, good sound, lots of fun to play, a great way to release pent-up aggression you're unlikely to play training mode more than onceweak voice acting

So bad you have to see it to believe it. You'll wish you hadn't even bothered to rent it.

Stylish strategical shmup Bland graphics and music, not so skillful shmup, can't save high scores
