One of the launch games for the Dreamcast was the original Power Stone and what a great game that was. Power Stone, developed by Capcom, was the first beat-em-up in a long, long time to breathe new life into the genre. For the first time in a beat-em-up you could freely run around in the stages jumping and grabbing onto poles, hiding behind boxes, use items of scenery for weapons, etc. The game was very, very fun to play although the battle system felt unbalanced with the power stones winning the battle all the time. This time around Capcom have improved everything in the game to ridiculous levels and have also introduced a new 4 player mode. The new 4 player ... Read the complete review

Capcom is a company well known for its 2D fighting games but when it come to 3D the likes of Namco, Sega and Tecmo rule. After a few 3D fighting titles such as Star Gladiator/Plasma Sword and Tech Romancer which met luke warm success Capcom felt the need to do something a little different for a 3D fighter. About a year and a half ago Capcom released Power Stone in Japan for the Dreamcast. Power Stone was different from any 3D fighter out there with the only thing similar being Ehrgeiz for the Playstation. Power Stone ... Read the complete review

The original Power Stone developed by Capcom was a great success with because for a change in beat em ups it was 3D and you could use every piece of the room as a weapon. The game was very enjoyable but you had a guaranteed win when you got all three power stones and transformed. The sequel everyone has been waiting for, well everyone with a Dreamcast at least, proves that you can always teach a dog new tricks. Power Stone 2 plays a lot like a 3D version of Super Smash Bros. The game is fast and furious, and although it can't be considered a fighting game like Dead or Alive 2, it's got arcade action all sewn up. The game play of Power stone 2 is ... Capcom the masters of beat em ups and survival horrors. Giving the gaming world the high and mighty "Street Fighter " series spanning over a decade and also brought the scariest and devastatingly good "Resident Evil" series and games such as "Dino Crises". So who would of thought that the makers of such serious, dark and gruesome games would make the most bright, colourful beat em up of all times, but don't worry they didn't take out the violence. So with the mixture of bright colourful backgrounds and characters with a dollop of senseless violence what do you get, the best beat em up around "Power Stone 2". ... Read the complete review

When the Dreamcast was released last year, the launch titles were a bit of a mixed bunch. You had Blue Stinger, Incoming, Expendable, Tokyo Highway Challenge and Dynamite Cop falling firmly into the "Mediocre" department, Trickstyle, Virtua Fighter 3tb and Sega Rally 2 coming in at "Above Average" and that left only 3. Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and Sonic Adventure were both "Triple A" titles, but that final title, Powerstone, was a strange one. Not much in the way of press coverage (in the UK at least), not that much hype anywhere else, but it was still one of the most impressive games on the system. Powerstone 2 from Capcom is one of the most ... Read the complete review
