Power Stone! Power Stone is an ace fighting game, one of the best on any console, ever released. Its made by the creators of Resident Evil, so you had to expect something original, and you’ll be thoroughly impressed – Power Stone is a Capcom marvel. The game is different to other fighters, as you have to run around some very strange arenas, more like rooms – full of all sorts, and picking up objects in order to knock your opponent senseless is actually rather good! You can also collect the three power stones, which act as power ups! Once you have the 3 power stones, you’ll turn into a huge version of yourself, and become all-powerful ... The first thing I noticed about this game was the developer- Capcom. So I thought I'd have a look at what they'd done before and one game came to mind.... Street Fighter, which was the greatest, beat 'em up of the age a few years ago. Since then the series has been going downhill with the release of a long string of sequels which include - Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2 Alpha, Street Fighter 3 and about 12 others (yawn). So the question was - could Capcom come up with a winner? Well the answer in my opinion was yes. Capcom have come up trumps with the first fully 3-D beat-em-up game ever only on the Dreamcast! As ever in Power Stone the object ... Read the complete review

Insane! This is such a brilliant game, and breathes new life into the somewhat stale beat-em up genre. Where as nearly all fighter now follow the Street Fighter / Tekken moulds to a greater or lesser extent, Powerstone throws the rules out of the window, but only after ripping them up, throwing a chair at them and shooting them with a flame-thrower! In Powerstone, you chose your character and then your arena, okay, nothing new there. But the arena isn’t some featureless ring, it’s full of boxes, trunks, chairs, tables and the like. Pick them up, and throw them at your opponent. Grab the roof support. Pick up a gun, or a metal bar, or a rocket ... Read the complete review

I don't own a Dreamcast but, when I played this game the other night I thought that it was brilliant. I have never seen a beat 'em up like this before. I have seen 3D arenas and stuff like: Virtua Fighter (Saturn), Ready 2 Rumble (Dreamcast) and Fighters Destiny (Nintendo 64). None of these compare to Power Stone because it is unique. Power Stone has 11 different characters that you can be, they all have seperate moves and different strengths and weaknesses. There is a 3D arena which has objects like: chairs, tables and barrels, which you can throw at the opponent. Also roofs that you can climb on to to get away from a certain attack. Each level is ... The main character when powered up looks like a power ranger,ok.I've heard that enough times. This,is utterly, truly the best fighting game on the Dreamcast, including Soul Caliber(and I haven't played Dead or Alive 2 yet so shut up at the back). This was the cream of the crop on release day and lucky for me,I was one of the few people who bought it.This is easy to get to grips with, challenging, looks great and is also a great multiplayer game(up to 2 players). To start at the major point(finally) the idea is to beat the crap(pardon my french)out of your opponent, but you can choose to collect three power stones(of the title) to power up into your powered up form(power ...
