Ready? Ready for what! Let’s get Ready 2 Rumble! Or not, depending on how far you’ve gotten in the game. You see, ready 2 Rumble is a great boxing game that isn’t let down by over seriousness, in fact it’s far from serious with caricature style boxers – from the fast and funky afro, Afro Thunder to the solid butcher Brown he’s probably the most powerful boxer outside of the secret characters!!
The gameplay is great, with lots of superb moves to pull off – uppercuts, right jabs, head buts, loads more – and you can even make the boxers speak, you’ll be hearing witty phrases like “Somebody call the doctor!” – anyway, you had to be there, Ready 2 Rumble is great in the arcade game for 2players to battle it out, but the world circuit mode is pretty dull.
You have to train up your boxer, using gyms, health pills and suspicious medicine, and more – it’s not that fun after a while, but I managed to complete through the game without using the popular cheats! Then take him or her out to face the world – progressing through bronze level, silver, then gold – then the massive boss who may prove slightly tricky…
Graphics are very good, and it still looks alright, seeing as this was a launch title, the characters and arenas look smooth and polygon proficient – it’s a damn fine game to play too, other than the not so brilliant one player mode.
