Rating:
Arguably the biggest Dreamcast game so far this year is here, and it's set to take the hugely popular Resident Evil series into the next era of gaming. Anyone who's played one of Capcom's survival horror thrillers before will surely have been highly anticipating this game's release ever since it was announced, I know I have. The combination of engrossing, movie-like storylines, massive scares, incredible graphics and plenty of gore, has established the franchise as one of the most successful in history, especially on the PlayStation. Resident Evil 2, which was recently released on the Dreamcast, has given owners a mere taster of what to expect from a ... Read the complete review

The fourth Resident Evil game out of the Capcom stable, Resident Evil: Code Veronica is the first in the series not to have been produced originally for the Playstation. This game was produced with the Dreamcast in mind, and as such there are a few differences. This time around you start as Claire Redfield. After RE2, she is still looking for her brother Chris, which leads her to Umbrella HQ in Europe. Unfortunately for her she is captured during the break in and is transported to an Umbrella prison and research facility on a remote island. Being a Resident Evil game, it isn’t long before the T-Virus is spread across the island and you find yourself ... Read the complete review

Finally, I have completed this blasted game and I can return to normal life. Those were my first thoughts as the end credits rolled across my TV screen. For the last 2 weeks I had been playing Resident Evil Code Veronica almost every spare waking hour, trying to work my way through its tricky puzzles and flesh-eating zombie filled levels. I hadn't really enjoyed all of it, at times it is extremely dull and I wanted it all to be over, but when it was over, I couldn't help but feel a little bit sad. I was going to miss the action sequences and the thrill of finding out what devious plot twist was coming next. I was going to miss the atmosphere ... Read the complete review

Another smash in the Resident evil series, and quite possibly the most intelligent and playable action/horror game of all time as of yet. With some amazingly mind tackling puzzles and an arsenal of guns to take freakish monsters down, who wouldn’t like it? With cut scenes that will keep you thoroughly amused you should definitely take a great interest in this game. We have seen many attempts of survival horror games like evil dead for example. They get the lighting; camera and depth of the game seem to fall apart. But this particular series seems to get everything right and make it one of the most popular series in the world apart from maybe final fantasy. ... Read the complete review

Rating:
Astonishing, the success of the Resident Evil franchise has meant a Dreamcast incarnation for our favourite brain eating zombiefied friends. What we have generally is more of the same, more puzzles, more shooting, more scares and loads of twists. The Dreamcast version expands on anything Resident Evil has had before by making it one of the finest looking games ever. The in game graphics are as good as a PSX cut scene, with animation a real strong point. The lighting efeects are fantastic and add to the atmosphere of the game. Oh yes, that atmosphere. Never before has a game made you scared of it, made you wonder what may lurk round the corner. Often you find ... Read the complete review
