Advantages: Great graphics, sound, effects, story.

Disadvantages: Clumsy and inefficient control system

Having never previously experienced a Resident Evil/Biohazard game before (I promised myself I would stick with the SNES, and then ended up with an N64 until Dreamcast was released), I wasn't really sure what to expect. Sure enough I read up on everything, but I never knew a videogame could have such atmospherics. Having obviously borrowed largely from horror movies, the music alters so you know that when you turn that corner something is going to happen - it's narly always nasty for poor Claire Redfield. This is one of few games I know that actually have an interesting plot and character development, the others including the likes of Zelda and Final Fanatasy. One of the major replay values is that you will want to advance the storyline. Graphics are superbly handled by the Dreamcast. The game is fully 3D with fixed camera angles. Cut scenes using the game engine are more frequent than FMV in this game, but it would be easy to get confused, as the graphics engine looks brilliant when close-ups are used. Plenty of bonus modes keep the action going, as most people I know who have played this have completed it in little over two days - but then, the more casual gamers would probably have a more relaxed approach to completing the game. My only serious gripe with the game is the control system. Old hands may be used to it, but it does not make full use of the analogue stick, leaving you to bash Claire into every wall at the beginning. Overall, a top class game that looks set to have similar success to its predecessors.
