Good first gen Dreamcast game! (Sega Rally 2 (DC))

Advantages: More tracks, cars and powerslides!

Disadvantages: Tricky, 50hz only, glitches

Sega rally 2 is not a classic, but is a very good arcade game. Just like the original was on the Sega Saturn, this version brings the arcade to life in the comfort of you living room! The graphics are not the greatest on Dreamcast but are by no means shabby, although a 60hz may have been nice had they included it.

The game features so many more cars and tracks than before, but strangely the game doesn’t seem such a revelation as the original. You can now compete in a 10year championship though, and upload your best times onto the Dreamcast Internet. The frame rate is a very nice 60per second, but the 50hz border is annoying to say the least. There is a lot of 2 player glitches in the scenery. But it doesn’t take any of the fun away!

I think there are over 15 cars now – a Subaru Impreza is among the new line up (before, all we had was a Lancia delta, a Toyota Celica and a Stratos!).
I would recommend Sega Rally 2 to you, as the new courses are worth the money, and if you haven’t played the first game then you’ll be pleasantly surprised with this one!

A decent enough first generation Dreamcast game, that could have been a little easier, had 60hz option and could have made more use of the Internet functions, but it’s worth buying now in the new Sega Dreamcast Millennium Range at £19.99, which is just about to hit the shops!
