Forget all the dodgy football titles on the dreamcast, this is the sports game you want. For a basketball fan this game has everything you could dream of - the option to play a full season (including play-offs) or just a one off match, an Arcade version or proper Simulation of the sport, all 29 teams of the NBA and all of the players, and even the option to create your own team. And even if you don't like basketball, you will after playing this game.

When actually playing the matches, there is very little you can find a fault in. The players move realistically around the court, different size match-ups really do affect the way the game plays, the sounds coming from the crowd and PA are brilliantly realistic and you can choose from a variety of camera angles. You are given detailed, accurate stats at the bottom of the screen during the game, you can call your own plays, timeouts and substitutions - the list is endless.

The five main game modes are: Practise, Exhibition, Season, Play-Offs and Customise, catering for all tastes and giving a well rounding sports game. The game has a gentle learning curve, with three difficult settings - Rookie, Pro and All-Star. Overall, this is a great simulation from Sega Sports but one word of warning - if you are into the arcade style game that NBA Jam gives you, be prepared for a bit of a change!
