Advantages: Best Basketball Game ever

Disadvantages: May not appeal to everyone

This game is easily the best sports title available on the Dreamcast at the moment. Although i would prefer a football game of this quality (come on Konami release ISS for Dreamcast!!!)for now NBA 2K is more than adequate to fill the void for now.

So NBA 2K has been developed by Sega Sports and features the latest player roster which is a must if any sports game is to be successful nowadays. So this is a good start. Things just get better from here on in though.........

The graphics of the game is what sets it apart from other basketball sims. Never before have i been able to recognize actual players from just looking at their faces. This stunning aspect is backed up by silky smooth 60 fps animation and very detailed character models which puts you right into the NBA atmosphere. The sound also compliments the atmosphere with stunning commentary which never seems to get tiresome. The sound effects in the game are also above average with realistic crowd noises increasing the tension.

The gameplay in the title is also superb with slam dunks and complicated plays being executed very easily. One particularly nifty feature is the way free throws are performed. When you are awarded a free throw you must press the two trigger buttons with the same amount of power to line up the shot. This means that in pressure situations those free throws are that much harder to hit and actually simulate what it is like in real life. The vmu is also put into good use displaying player statistics during the game, showing how tired they are, etc.

Everything else you wish a basketball game to have is here too. From an exhibiton match to an arcade match to player create functions, etc. they are all here executed to perfecion.

With this game Sega have created a game which manages to be fun to play without the player having to be a basketball fan. What an achievement!!!! Well Done Sega.
