Disadvantages: Frustating, Can Get Boring

Shenmue has to be one of the greatest games that you will ever buy if you own a dc. It is a must have game for anyone who owns a dc, the reasons for this are very clear and you should consider whether you like this type of game before you buy it. It is sort of like a RPG beat um up, you go where you like and you do what you like in the Shenmue word. It is very detailed and it is a small word of its own.

You will get to know several characters whether they are involved or not in the story as they all do different things during their day.

You are Ryo Hazuki, a boy who comes back to find that his father has been killed by a ma named Lan Di he is after a mirror in which he finds by killing his father. It is up to you playing the life as Ryo to find out why this event happened and who was responsible for it.

The story progresses into an addictive plot in which you cant put the game down, it is spanned over 4 disks so it is well worth you money. In the game you will have to battle against enemies in a fist combat similar to that of Virtua Fighter on the dc. Another type of fighting system is known as the QTE (quick timer event) you have to press buttons as they flash up in a certain order in order to pass on with the story. This adds a lot of fun and in my opinion is the best part after the story

The game is 4 disks long which will keep you at your dc for a long time, you will find that you will not be able to put down Shenmue as it is such a unique game the story line keeps you into the game until the very end.

The fourth disk is called the passport, it is not actually a part of the game but it adds extras as a bit of fun in the game like watching key scenes and playing back your favourite bits.

Don?t forget about the arcade in the game. Its one of the best places to go, you can either play darts practice on old Sega games like Super Hang On and Space Harrier. If this isn?t enough you can play on the QTE title game
. This game is packed with so much stuff to do you will never find everything out.

Graphics wise this game is about as good as you can get on the dc, in most cases this games graphics are better than you would see on most recent PS2 games. The amazing thing is that is all 3D and in a world so real you will feel like you are involved in the story.

The sound is another thing to credit about this game, the soundtrack has been composed by an orchestra and the music is great at setting the mood of the game. Once again this proves that music is one of the most important factors of gaming. The tracks are great and are really good at showing you how to feel. They use many moods as the game changes a lot and overall is the best you get. Compare it to soundtracks like the final fantasy series and the Metal Gear series.

Shenmue does have a few bad things though. It can get very frustrating asking for clues as you get the same response from different people and you can not always do what you want to do. There is also a job you must get on the third disc which gamers that don?t like doing the same things will find very annoying. Sometimes you get slowdown in the graphics and some things can get annoying. If you don?t like games like Final Fantasy don?t get this game as you wont like it to much.

In the long run you just have to buy this game as it is the second best game on the dream cast, the only game that can beat it is it?s sequel which has recently just come out.

Now that production of the games you wont find Shenmue in shops, look out for this game SH, you wont be disappointed at the result
