Sonic Adventure 2 is slightly better than the first one – I can definitely come to that conclusion, but I will only award the sequel 4 stars instead of 5 because 1 and a half years on I do not believe the improvement is great enough, there still some niggles and flaws in the game, but overall, it’s more of that same classic, unbeatable Sonic speed gameplay. And it’s worth your money, I can tell you that. Graphics have improved from the original, although only slightly as the first was pretty impressive, and we now no longer have to endure the ‘between level’ boredom that was gratuity with the first, thankfully everything is a lot ...

The release of Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast marks the tenth anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, a series which has spanned more hardware platforms than most are aware of. Sonic is ten years old, and marks the prestigious date by making his last appearance on a Sega branded console before heading off to other hardware... Somehow I missed his 16bit outings, and my real first inroduction to the blue hedgehog was Sonic Adventure, one of the launch titles for the Dreamcast. It was a strange mix. Fast, action-packed 3D recreations of Sonics 2D megadrive levels met awkward 'adventure' roaming levels. Dazzling graphics often betrayed inadequacies in framerate and draw distance, while the game itself showed occasional glimpses of inspiration.
