He, with the aid of a new enemy, called Chaos, attempts to find all of these crystals and bring about total world destruction, so it's up to Sonic and his team, including Tails and Amy Rose, to stop him with their unique abilities of speed and flight. The kicker of the game is that you can choose to play as a number of different characters throughout the game, giving you an altered perspective that is powered through the 128-bit Dreamcast, considering these vast options were never ...more

Crowned Review Sonic Adventure (DC): Just get it! (1407 words)

Sonic Adventure huh? Here’s an update (well a complete overhaul actually) on my original opinion, which quite frankly wasn’t of much use in comparison to other opinions on Sonic Adventure. A game like this deserves a lot of credit and critical acclaim, as it has done already, but I thought I’d share my views on one of the Dreamcast launch games – the best Sonic game to date. So, the famous blue hedgehog returns in a 128bit, graphically advanced, next generation, full 3D world of adventures and surprises, but have Sonic Team made it any good? What do you think? Sonic is the best ‘adventure/platform’ game on Dreamcast, it’s ...  Read the complete review

This was one of the first games I got with my Dreamcast and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I was already a Sonic fan, but this is my favourite game in the series. Somehow it manages to transfer the gameplay of the 2D games into its 3D world. The ability to play several different characters with different skill adds variety to the game. There's a simple plot of Sonic and friends versus Dr. Eggman, but by playing the different characters you get to see their portion of the story. The Sonic Adventure world is large, with 6 major characters each having 10 levels too complete. These levels sometimes overlap so two different characters may play through the same ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sonic Adventure (DC): Sonic for the next-generation (376 words)

Sonic Adventure is probably the most famous game ever released on the Dreamcast - it wholly revamped the Sonic franchise, bringing it into the 3D world, with amazing graphics, and whilst reaction to the change was naturally going to be a little mixed, what Sonic Team ultimately pulled off was a considerable achievement - a living, breathing world of one of the most acclaimed and beloved video game series of all time. The plot's hardly rocket science - a planet called Mobius has seven Chaos Emeralds on it, which are a source of unfounded, absolute power, which Eggman (formerly Dr. Robotnik but changed due to legal reasons) wants to find. He, with the aid of a ...  Read the complete review

Finally after years of waiting after the great Sonic series on the Mega Drive console, and no outings on its following consoles, Sonic finally back, and in such style in 3D! The game which launched with the Sega Dreamcast console, offers a new Sonic adventure in great new realistic looking 3D graphics, awesome sounds and speedy level exploring gameplay. Tails and Knuckles return from previous adventures, Knuckles has to go through levels finding emeralds in hidden areas of the level, which is quite dissapointing as it takes away what Sonic games are all about which is speeding through the zones, you also get another 3 characters, Amy, Big, and E-102 ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Sonic Adventure (DC): It's not, bad but still disappoints. (990 words)

This game has two different level types. Adventure stages and action stages. The adventure stages are for general play. These stages give the game an rpg type feel, which is not typical of Sonic games. Having said that, i had hoped for a Sonic rpg for a long time. So was initially pleased to see this. Being able to wander around freely at a relaxed pace, and even talk to people. The graphics seemed nice, and it was quite enjoyable for a while. But the novelty soon wore off. Although you encounter a number of levels early on in the game, they don't keep coming. There is alot of going back and forth, using the same levels. It isn't very adventurous, or ...  Read the complete review
