This is a review on the game called Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. It is a the first Sonic to be on the Dream cast, and also is the first adventure sonic game around.

This is a usual Sonic game, as some people thought, well they are wrong. This game is different to the regular Sonic games. It is in 3D for starts, and you get to roam around in Station Square (where Sonic decides to live), Mystic Ruins (where Tails lives) and The Egg Ship (where Dr Robotnik thinks, and plans). You can do the missions when you like to, but they are in a specific order, even though you might see one, you might need something to unlock a door towards it.

The first level of this game is a beach level; Tails has fallen out the sky again with his new contraption, a plan powered by something special. But before you do that, when you first start the game, you will fight a boss called Chaos. Who is the main bad guy you will have to fight in this game.

Chaos is very easy to beat to start off, but he and Dr Robotnik are trying to find all 7 chaos emeralds before Sonic does so he can feed them to Chaos to make him stronger. Dr Robotnik succeeds in this quite a lot, and Chaos gets stronger and stronger over time. Sonic will have to face this foe many times to actually defeat it.

There is also this awesome thing to do with this game, when you find a character, say like Tails, and you save him, then you will be able to play him in the game, which is cool. It is the same with Knuckles, Amy, Big, and Dr Robotnik’s robot he created. Each and every character has its own story line, so when you have completed it with Sonic, why not try playing the game with Tails, or Amy. They all have different missions to do, and sometimes it can be more fun or less fun. Some story lines are longer then others depending on which character you are. Sonic’s is the longest as you would probably have guessed.

Also when you load the game up, you don’t need to just play the main game, there are other things also like Time attack, where you will be able to do the levels for fun, and try and beat your best time score. Great fun!

In the game you will find items, which will upgrade your character. Sonic will be able to find a new set of shoes, which will make him be able to do new technique, and make him run faster also, which can be very useful within the game. Also for Sonic, you have to get it anyway, so you can do this mission. Knuckles has one which will increase the power of his knuckles, so he can punch into walls and other stuff to find items in the walls like rings and other such things.

You will be able to find those upgrades simply, as it will be part of the story line, you will need to get them so don’t worry if you can’t find them at start, you will get them eventually. If you end up not finding any upgrade for the character, then that means it is one that you don’t actually need to get and you will need to find it in a secret location of some sort.

Thanks for telling me about the game, I have this game, but I don’t know how to get to Mystic Ruins… Can you help?
Well getting to Mystic Ruins is pretty simple, you can’t go there straight away, you will need to fight Chaos for the first time, and then do the first mission, and when you acquire Tails as a playable character, then he will ask you to go to Mystic Ruins, and you can go there by catching a train at the train station to go there.

I have found the train; can I go anywhere else via this train?
The answer to that is plain and simple, and its No, it can only take you to Mystic Ruins, and that’s all.

I would like to know one thing, can Sonic turn into Super Sonic?
For some strange reason, the newer Sonic games do not allow him to turn into Super Sonic; this game does not allow it, as you never have all 7 chaos emeralds at once. That can probably be the only disappointment to this game.

There are many different types of missions for you to do, there will be Ice missions, and also ones where you fly around a lot, then others when you will have to avoid a tornado, and ones in a lava cave. Pretty good fun if you ask me. I would like to see Sonic do all those, and so can you by playing the game.

The playability of this game is great, very enjoyable, loads of things you can do, including loads of extra mini games like Go-Kart racing, and others. It is awesome fun, and is a good game to play, very entertaining, very entertaining indeed.

The game is very addictive, this game is good for more then just one person, it is a 2 player game also, pretty hard to play 2 player, but it is, as it says on the back of the case. One of you plays as Sonic, and the other plays as Tails, whom follows Sonic around on some of the levels. Very addictive for the whole family.

This game is very original; it is the first Sonic game to have its own roam around, where you will be able to have fun just messing around at Station Square or Mystic Ruins, very fun, and great environment, especially for a Sonic game.

Graphically, this game is amazing, has awesome graphics, the detail in the areas, and the levels that Sonic and the gang roam around. The details in the characters, the roads, the towns people, the bad guys, just very good. Compared to the older Sonic games, this owns them graphically.

The background music to the game is great, all the type of music you would want to hear, and what you might recognize from previous Sonic instalments. Very good music. The game has voices, you will here them talk to each other when they are talking, also you will have subtitles, which you can change to any language that the game supports under the games options.

The sound effects are great, with all the noises of the cars, the footsteps, the noises in the casino (yes… a casino), and other things, just great.

The game is not that difficult at start like most Sonic games, but it does start to get hard the further you get into the game, you will need to train your skill for this Sonic game, so train up, and train hard if you wish to complete it. The last boss for each character is very hard, so be aware, if you are coming up to the last few levels, you might want to watch out, it will be hard to finish the game off.

The game is great value, it costs around £10 - £20 now, and it is great for that amount of money. I bought it a while back and it cost me £10 pre-owned, and I have had great fun with the game, but as I don't have my dreamcast anymore I had to sell it, but I now own the Gamecube version. I shall give this game 3 star * * * though, because even though it is a great game, I have played much better since. I recommend this game to everyone, especially Sonic fans.

Thanks For Reading!

Summary: A good game, graphically good, and is the first 3D sonic game
