Sonic Adventure was a launch title for the illustrious Sega Dreamcast and I have to say that it was probably one of the biggest leaps in adventure games of all time. Sonic has been around for over ten years, and his first outing on the Sega Dreamcast was a very successful one, arriving in a full 3D action packed fun filled adventure, as the title would suggest.

Nearing two years of age now, the game has had a sequel in the form of the also pretty impressive Sonic Adventure 2, but still remains one of the best games on the console, as well as being an incredible bargain at just £7.99 from retailers.

The game sees Sonic and 5 friends on their own little adventures which all blend into one towards the end – the main goal for sonic is to defeat the creature called Chaos, as well as fending off the evil Dr Egg man (Dr Robotnik).

I wont spoil it for you too much, but needless to say the game has many strengths – a great sense of character, Sonic Team graphics that will not disappoint, and the most brilliant gameplay with very few faults at all.

Plus points:

Great graphics and some excellent effects, one of the first DC games to take advantage of the power.

Massive game, with loads and loads of levels, sub levels and mini games – will keep you entertained for ages!

Superb sense of character and style – Sonic Team really did turn up the heat with this one.

Price! It’s just £7.99 – you cannot go wrong.

Downsides:

Unfortunately the in game camera crew were all drunk, thus dodgy cameras.

Frustrating gameplay at times – some levels are really hard and monotonous, but only a few.

Overall, a top game, at the time I would have given 4 stars, but because of the price and replay value, I have to say 5.
