Advantages: A GREAT GAME ALMOST A COMPLETE COPY OF THE ARCADE
Disadvantages: NO FOUR PLAYER MODE
Here are some guides to the players: -
Rock is slow but a powerful character who if mastered is probably unbeatable his we upon is a huge axe a bit like astaroth's.
Seung mina is a fast character. She has a very useful weapon a long spear which is very useful. her most powerful move can take away three quarters of the opponents life. she is a good starting character as she is easy to master and has some powerful moves.
Cervantes is fast and powerful which makes him probably the best character depending on personal preference. He has two swords one straight and one wavy. He is a pirate and is very strong, if you unlock him I suggest you master his moves as you will be able to beat anyone.
Voldo is a fast character and has the blades coming out of a glove shaped weapon on his hand. His strength is average and has some weird stances.
Ivy has a sword that can be changed into a whip, she is not the fastest player on the game but she is quick. Ivy is not that strong but her sword does help with damage. If I was you I wouldn't pick her to play against a friend.
Nightmare is a slow but very powerful character, he has a big, big sword and if you time it right you can kill a character in matter of seconds.
Maxi know, he is very fast and has lots of powerful moves also you can perform high hit combos which are easy to master. Maxi has some good throws which when your playing the computer are not so easy to pull off. He has some nunchucks, which are very good.
Hwang is ve
ry fast, his moves are easy to master and powerful, which makes him a really playable character. His weapon is a Chinese sword. One of Hwangs moves is very weird he waves his sword in the air and it doesn't damage your opponent at all.
Kilik has a very long pole as his weapon. Kilik is fast and his moves are quite powerful; he can be one of the best characters but it depends on who you are facing.
Siegfried is very, very powerful but the thing that makes him slow is his eight-foot long sword. He is much like Nightmare.
Xianghua is very fast but her moves let her down she has a small sword which she performs most of her moves with if you have the time you can learn her moves I wouldn't as this doesn't make her a lot better.
Taki is very fast and can inflict average damage. Being as fast as her you can get throws in from the back, which do more damage than from the front. She has a small word, which is used most of the time. If you like Taki I would learn her moves because she can be very powerful.
Astaroth is very strong but also very slow his powerful moves take up to about a half of your opponents life away. He has a huge axe, which is fun to fight with.
Yoshimitsu is more or less the same as in a Tekken game, which is fast and has some very powerful throws.
Lizard man is exactly the same as Sophita but a lizard and has a bit more power.
Sophita is quick, strong and has a sword. She has some powerful moves and can finish opponents of quickly.
Mitsurugi is a fast character and has many powerful moves, which are easy to master; this makes the game a lot easier.
The game gets harder and harder as mission mode goes on and the money you need to unlock characters gets bigger. The one thing the game lacks is a good four player mode like Dead or Alive two or Tekken Tag but overall this is undoubtedly one quality beat em up.The modes are: -
Arcade mode, which is going
through the game against the computer where you unlock new characters. A good mode, which everyone likes!
Mission battle is where you unlock new levels, extra weapons, character outfits, modes and lots of different art.
Practice where you practice and learn new moves.
Museum mode which has lots of modes inside it: -
Art gallery where you view all the artwork that you have collected there is literally hundreds of it.
Exhibition theatre is were you can see martial arts demonstrations from each and every character performing there martial art.
Character profiles where you look at , there parents there age, blood type, where the character has been born what weapons they have and what they are called, there ending, voice and what stage they fight on.
Extra survival is where you play survival mode but instead of full life one hit kills you or your opponent.
Survival mode is where you try and defeat as many characters as you can with no continue.
Time attack is where you try and beat all the opponents in the fastest time you can.
Team attack you pick a maximum of five players in your team against a computer team who you get to choose or against a friend.
Even the best games players will find the game challenging in parts, overall there are 20 characters also it has many different game modes, this game will last you a lifetime this is due to the vast range of game modes. As I mentioned earlier Soul Calibur has no four player mode, despite no four player mode don't let this put you off purchasing the game, the two player and single player modes more than make up for it .
A superb game that is a must buy for every dreamcast owner.
