Toy Commander (DC)

Newest Review: ... of toys, a child’s toys, so don’t get too excited now, so you’ll control mini helicopters, cars, toy tanks, ... more

... planes and boats – in order to complete the mission told to you in the mission briefing! The gameplay is really good, with some tricky tasks and bosses, but it’s unlike anything I’ve played before. The visuals are pretty good too – this was one of the first ‘wave’ of Dreamcast titles, and it still looks good by the day’s standard. Multiplayer games are enhanced by completing the single player mode – the more in one player you do, the more rooms you unlock for the ...more

Premium Review Toy Commander (DC): A little bit of fun for grown up kids  (363 words)
by - written on 24/03/01 (Very useful, 36 readings)
Rating:

Toy Commander looks deceptively like a shallow game aimed at kids. The storyline is that the bad toys are revolting against their owner, who plays too hard with them. Taking control of the good toys, you have to stop their bad ways, while trying to solve other household chores such as boiling an egg along the way! The game gives you control of different vehicles as you progress, starting from miniture bi-planes and tanks to trucks and cars. Each vehicle has strengths and weaknesses and can enable you to complete the different tasks set in each level. The tank can shoot projectiles, while the helicoptor can pick up items and deposit them somewhere else. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Toy'n Around (770 words)

Toy Commander is a real oddity of a game, the bright exterior and the games title suggests that the game is typically kiddie fair, best deserving to rot next to the dreadful Army Men games. A breif play will throughly tell you that this *isn't* a kiddie game - it's way too tough for that. The basic premise of the game is that an evil toy - the Toy Commander - has taken over your house with the help of his Generals. With the toys which remain faithful to you, you need to go through each each area of the house completing missions to go on. The house is split into several areas (the kitchen, bedrooms, garage, etc), which each area of the house ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Toy Commander (DC): Toytastic (177 words)

Toy commander is a great game combining a mixture of styles into one game. Despite the title this is not a game just for kids it is a great game for everyone. In the racing option you control a car and race around a toy track. In the adventure option you control a aeroplane to start with but there are other vehicles later on and you have to go round completing missions in order to advance. The graphics are reasonably good and the sound is also good but this is a really playable game with quite good lastability. This is an adventure game but is also a racing game, it is quite simple to pick up and play but the missions do get harder as you go along. In the adventure ...  Read the complete review

Toy Commander does exactly what it says on the in! Your are a commander in control of many toy tanx and planes and the aim of the game is to complete the levels to progress through the house. This is a very good, clever idea and I think that it works brilliantly well. The levels are not to hard, you can complete the game in a weekend, but the graphics are amazing and the multiplayer is really fun too. If your looking for a different game then try toy commander, I promise you that you will like it! ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Toy Commander (DC): pretty darn addictive. (166 words)

I don't play on the DC, but my husband does and when he first got the machine about 9 months ago this was his favorite game. Starts of you're in charge of various toy vehicles in different rooms of the house, each time you complete a level you gain a new room, and each room gives you a set vehicle or vehicles. You start in the kitchen with, if my memory serves me right, a tank of sorts and a plane. You have to collect power ups/ missiles (in the guise of pencils/erasers etc. ) and extra fuel and repairs. Each room has a mission: escort the paper birds(!), race other planes and get home first, transport toy soldiers from one location to another, and ...  Read the complete review
